Protein Blues
Everytime I drink my protein I feel yucky afterwards. I really believe it's because I'm so sick and tired of drinking it. Hopefully on my next visit he will tell me I don't have to anymore. It's my own fault for not eating properly but that doesn't change the fact that I'm sick of it.
Oh can someone please invent a protein pill that has twenty grams or so in it, I would be much obliged. K thanks.
Seriously if someone would do that they would become billionaires. I would much rather take a pill then keep drinking protein. It doesn't taste bad I'm just tired of it.

A pill would be heaven sent. I make mine into smoothies and everything too but I'm just tired of it. I thought I would be off of them by now but because I was stupid I have to drink them three times a day again. Hopefully when I go back next month and show him I'm eating he will let me stop them again. Whenever you find the disk is fine I should be here. My baby goes back to school on Wednesday and I don't know what I will do with myself all day.

Have you considered the Profect stuff advertised to the right of the board.

It's often called a "protein shot" cause it's a tiny like a shot of liquior. I don't think it's worst than cough syrup and that would give you half your protein of the day.
Do these high protein foods not work for you:
tuna, shrimp, trail mix, milk, yogurt, nuts, beef jerky.
I have some RNY friends who supplement with beef jerky (yes, hard work) and one who seldomly has a "meal" in the traditional sense, but she will grab a hand of trail mix a couple times a day.
I had a day last week where I snacked on a cup of boiled shrimp. I went back and forth to it over the course of a few hours.
I know you can put away any full cup of protein at a time, but some of these things might help you build a strategy for getting it over some time. This probably sounds like a horrible chore, but when you are carrying your blessing-to-come, you will have to raise your nutrients, so just getting in the mindset now might be a good idea.
All my best,
Frances
Hey Frances,
Yes I've tried the profect they are alright but kinda expensive too. I'm just tired of the protein all together. And yes the high protein foods work for me, but because I was stupid and didn't eat properly he put me back on the shakes three times a day to build my muscle mass back up. Hopefully next month when I have my body comp done it will be back up and I can stop drinking them again. Now that I'm getting ready for baby I'm eating alot better and more often to insure my body is ready. Hopefully it is.
Thanks,
Tina
I tried the Profect before my surgery when I was "experimenting" with different things. It made me VERY SICK even BEFORE surgery, so I knew that I could not tolerate it afterwards!!! It was tooooooo nasty to me. I also asked my Dr. and Nutritionist about it and they said NO!!! It is made of the cheapest protein source there is and will NOT do for gastric bypass patients!! Just FYI!!! Hugs, Pam
Have you tried some of the Nectar fruit flavors? I like them for a change... I LOVE my American Sports Nutrition Tropical Banana, though. I mix it with 6 oz. of Chocolate Lite Soy milk and 8-12 ice cubes in a blender. It comes out thick and frost just like a milk shake and I've been drinking it for two years now and LOVE it. I also have some Hi-protein cocoa that I love. It's Amaretto Cocoa and has 15 grams of protein per cup. They make high-protein jello and soups and other things... You might try some of those for a change. UNJURY company makes an "unflavored" protein mix that isn't tooooo bad. You can add it to outmeal or soups or just about anything else to get that added protein in. I can't imagine that you will EVER get completely off the protein mixes of some kind!! It is soooooo important for muscles, hair, healing, etc. Hope some of this helps you. Hugs, Pam
Yeah I have the nectar fuzzy navel, I'm just tried of protein period. I use the unflavored too from time to time. And yes he does want me off of it eventually. He said I should get to where I'm eating enough high protein foods that I won't need the supplements. I just wasn't eating much at all and it made my body start burning muscle instead of fat. Thanks for your input. I guess I just need to learn to eat better so I don't have to drink so much.
