First Congratulations on your approval and welcome to the board. Each doctor is different so I don't know what he will do next, but I'm sure he meant before surgery on the weight loss. It won't be that hard. Especially since you are working for something. I lost 12 lbs by just cutting out soda's and tea and just drinking water. Then I had to do a liquid diet before surgery and lost a total of 25 lbs. I hope it all goes well and you can get your date soon. Good luck. Tina 336/185/145

Congrats on getting your approval so quickly! and Welcome to the board! Yes, you probably will have to lose the 20 lbs before surgery. Your next appointment will probably be for your orders to get labs and other tests done that are required before surgery. That's what most docs do. Good luck to you! Cindee

I know it sounds like a lot of weight to lose, but the reason they ask you to lose it is so that the fat around your liver shrinks, and it makes it easier for them to do the surgery. Every surgeon is different, I would ask him if I were you. I don't know your Doc, so I don't know what his protocol is. Cindee
