I am so angry with Dr. Barnes.. I am switching surgeons

My husband had a chance to not deploy. Or at least stay home for an additional two weeks. All he needed was a letter from Dr. Barnes detailing the complications I've had and my husband's command would've let him stay at least until August 30, if not for good. But Dr. Barnes won't write it. He contradicted himself -- at my last appointment he told me that because I had a bleeding ulcer so soon it was very conceivable I'd have another. But now he's saying I'm perfectly fine. Never mind the stricture, etc. I didn't ask him to LIE. I asked for a factual letter. I even told his receptionist that I would never ask him to lie. The Barnes simply don't care after they get the big money -- that's my opinion. I'm going to try to switch doctors for a follow up. I'm so upset I've been vomitting since I got the call from his office. This is the most upset I've been in forever. It's not that I wanted him to LIE!!!! When my husband goes to Afghanistan, if something happens to him, OMG I'll be so angry at Dr. Barnes Oh now Linda just called and they claim they'll write a letter based on factss... that's just what I asked for in the beginning. I'm so upset. I want a new doctor. This is the second time I've felt this way, so it's time to follow my heart I guess.

Lin, oh I am so sorry you are having these problems with your doctor. I used Dr Thomas Lavin Covington. I love him and his staff they are great both pre op and post op. I 'm not sure if they would do follow ups though but it may be worth a phone call. He has offices in Covington and in Metairie too. The # in Cov is 985-234-3000 He was great. I go back to see him on the 16th of Aug for my 1 year post op visit. Did they ever check you for a interal herina or scar tissue that was blocking you? I had a hernia and scar tissue that was blocking me. I could eat a small amount and still take in liquids but I could tell they were getting stuck so that is when I called and went in to see him and he put me in the hospital on a thrusday and had test on friday and had surgery on Sat. I went home that same day but I have had no problems since them. I am just stuck at 145 pounds WEll I hope everything works out for you let me know ok. Take care, Chrissy

I am so sorry. No lies were requested. You would think the dr. would jump at chance to help somone who is defending our country. I don't mean to be a downer. But I had my WLS in Jackson, MS. My dr. moved to Florida. Hattiesburg is 30 minutes away, Jackson 2 hours. When consulting a plastic surgeon in Hattiesburg, two hernias were found. No problem he and a gen. surgeon would do the procedure together. He sent me to a general surgeon there whom I had consulted about for WLS. ( BCBS would not pay and they would not give me a cash price-- hence I went to Jackson.) General surgeon refused to see me and refused to repair hernias w/plastics dr. because he had not done my WLS. His nurse said this in front of other pts in the reception area of the clinic. And spoke of a friend from Hattiesburg support group who just had plastics. Needless to say I was not happy. I filed a formal complaint that my HIPPA rights had been violated by publicly speaking of my case and the other girls in front of other pts.
