I'm 7 weeks out. I've lost only 2 pounds in 10 days
I know we have platueaus. Which I'm fairly sure I just spelled THAT word wrong..lol. Anyway, I've lost a total of 58lbs.
I know that I haven't had a lot of luck getting all my water in and I've not eaten as much as I should lately. That could be part of it, maybe?
My dear, loving husband has reminded me that I am exercising and that muscle weighs more than fat thus I am probably losing fat, but gaining muscle.
I'm a bit bummed, though.
Hi Lin,
I think you are on the right course. A plateau is four weeks with no weight loss and no inches loss. The last 10 days could signal your body adjusting to the rapid weight loss or water retention.
What you do put in your mouth is important as what you don't. The water and minimum caloric intake are crucial in your weight loss. A lack of water leaves you with out a way to rid your body of the fat its losing and if you don't eat the right amounts, your metabolism gets slowed and sluggish.
Many people will lose in spurts -- nothing for a couple of weeks and then 5 or 10 pounds in a couple of weeks.
I hope you can stay the course and get every bit of water and nutrients being suggested to you.
All my best,
Frances
ONLY 58 lbs. in 7 weeks? That's GREAT girl!! Think about what you are saying. I'm not fussing, just wanting you to be realistic. Yes, we do have plateaus and slow downs... Your body has to "catch up" sometimes!!! You probably are gaining muscle and I'll bet ANYTHING you are losing inches!!! Please do NOT be discouraged. You are doing fine and if you continue, you will start losing again any day now! Be sure and drink as MUCH water as you possibly can (without throwing up), and try to get as close to your accepted calorie count as possible. Not eating enough calories can really slow down your loss!!!
Be of Good Cheer!! You are doing GREAT!!! REALLY!!!!
Hugs, Pam
Lin,
Don't get discouraged. 58 lbs in 7 weeks is great, that is 1.18lbs per day. When is the last time you lost 1.18 lbs per day or 58 lbs in 7 weeks!?! You are not a plateau. It could be water retention, that time of month, or what your husband said, exercise. Muscle does weigh more then fat.
When I was about 4 month's out, I did Tae Bo and gained 7 lbs. I called my surgeon crying because I just knew my surgery had failed. He assured me it was muscle and the weight would come off. And you know what!?! It did!
You are doing an awesome job...keep it up.
Gina
Ok Lin, first we have to work on your vocabulary....lets take the word "only" out of it. You can use this word this way and only this way. I have lost XXlbs and only have XX lbs to go. 58lbs is wonderful, I know we all want it off right now but it doesn't happen that way. Usually when the weight stalls we lose inches. Take your measurements too. I know you didn't gain 57lbs in seven weeks so to take it off in 7 is incrediable.
Get rid of the scales, they are evil. I am addicted to mine so I know how evil it can be. You really are doing great!!!!!
