Hey guys just a question: I am wondering, I saw where Darla (D Kaye J) posted she had loose bowels post-op. I havent had that. In fact, havent had a single BM since the day of surgery. Is this normal? When should I worry?

That's great that he called you. My doc called me every night at about eight o'clock to check on me for about a week. Tina

Stephanie...I'm glad Dr Richardson called you - good timing to ease your mind alittle bit. How are you feeling otherwise?

Stephanie, I think there are usually two ways to go, if you'll excuse the pun. Either its the diahrea(sp) or the constipation trip. I, unfortunately, have the latter of the two. I use stool softeners everyday. I don't use colace, because it costs too much. I use the walmart brand with a laxative stimulant in it. I make sure, once again, excuse the pun, that I go at least every two or three days. I have never been obstructed and don't want to be. Try to get in your fluids, that can cause dehydration, which can lead to constipation too. You'd think I was an expert huh, hehehe, well, I have been dealing with it for two years now and suspect that I will be dealing with it for a long time to come. Other than that, how are you feeling??? Debbie

Hey....I haven't experienced any loose bowels at all since surgery, matter of fact, I don't have good movements at all anymore. I can go a good 3 to 4 days without a BM. It doesn't feel good at all!!! My stomach will cramp up really bad. I use an ex lax about once a week to help me go. I'm five and half months post op and I heard it's normal to go days without a BM. Good Luck with everything!!!! Christie 340/239/170
