Update
I am 2 days post-op. I am home and getting around. I have a couple questions and am wondering some things:
A.) I am feeling VERY bloated but have drank the following:
THIS AM -- 120 ccs of water
LUNCHTIME -- 3 bites of jello and 4-5 tsps of broth
SUPPER -- 5 tbsp of broth and a few sips of water
Now I know I am supposed to be getting 48 oz of water in but I am having difficulty because I get so full so soon and feel bloated -- i am wondering if the bloated feeling is pain and soreness from the surgery and not really a bloating feeling
Someone????
Stephanie
Hi Stefanie, Glad to hear that you are doing well. The bloating could be from air that they blow into your abdominal area to do the surgery laproscopically. Walking will help your body reabsorb the air. It made me feel like I was gonna pop, but some people it just doesn't bother at all. The first few days, do the best you can with the water, protein etc. And the soreness will go away. Try to rest as much as you can. This is the time to focus on yourself and pamper yourself alittle. Welcome to the losing side. Try to sip your water as much as you can though. You can get dehydrated really easily and that isn't so good. Take care and soooo glad that you breezed through with flying colors. Debbie![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/mbgraphics/emoticons/clap.gif)

Hi Stephanie,
The bloated feeling is probably the swelling from the surgery, also the air inside that they pump in so they can see what they are doing. Walk, walk, walk.
Don't worry so much about getting your protein in right now, after a week or two you will feel much better and can work on that then. The most important thing right now is WATER. Try to get as much water in as you can, sip, sip, sip. All day long. I had trouble with that as well, and my Doc told me to do that. He said that after you heal a bit, two or so weeks, it is much easier to get the protein and water in, so for now, just try to get in the water, keep from getting dehydrated. BTW, He was right, after about 3 weeks, I was able to get in the 80 grams a day of protein. Good luck!!

I agree with the other posters about the bloating. It will go away, I felt like my tummy was huge.
As far as the protein and water. I didn't start on the protein till I was two weeks out. But I was instructed to drink an ounce every half hour. I really prefer water but was told to alternate between juice and water. I would have to dilute the juice. This was very hard to remember to do so I set the timer on my microwave to remind when my thirty minutes were up. Sometime I would alternate with jello and water or juice and water or even popsicles and water. I did this for the first two weeks then increased the amount.
I think the beginning two weeks it is impossible to drink 48 ounces of anything. I know I was lucky to get an ounce every 30 minutes of waking time. In time you will be able to get more in....
Take care and rest as much as you can.
Hugs,
Jodi
