I am new to the message board, but I have read and re-read all the posting for the last few months. I have gained so much strength and courage and information from you who are regulars on this message board. I have a surgery date August 2, Dr Gary Stevens in Lafayette. I am excited but very nervous....... But I know when everything is over I will be glad I went through with all of it. Keep up the good work here. This is an awesome web site. Ivy

I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Stevens. Don't worry about the lifestyle changes b/c the the surgery takes care of all those cravings. The first few weeks are the worst but I don't know anyone who has regrets about the surgery. I'll keep you in my prayers, it's common to be nervous but try to relax. Anne

Hi Ivy, Welcome to the LA board!!! so glad that you are here. I too, like you spent alot of time reading in the beginning and not saying a word. I guess I just wanted to absorb what everyone else was saying. There should be one support group meeting in Baton Rouge before your surgery date, you should try and make it to the meeting. I went to my first meeting last month and I am 22 months out. I was really glad to meet the ladies that were there. The great thing about this bunch of ladies and even a few men is that we are and have been in the same boat. The people here are great and will hold you up, even when you don't think that you can do it alone. And there is always someone who can relate to what you are going through at the time. Like I said, welcome and congratulations on your surgery date. We are pulling for you. Debbie
