Blood Pressure ?
I went to my PCP today and my blood pressure was high.Well the cna used a small cuff in front. So when I went in back my Dr. said it was high and I have to get it down before they would do surgery on me.Well then the nurse checked it with a big cuff and it wasn't high.So I need to know is there any way to get my pressure down.I've already started on my diet so hopefully that will help.Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'm a big believer in biofeedback: when she's about to do your pressure again, do this: no talking, close your eyes, take deep breaths, think about going to sleep or something calming. Continue this until she's done. I swear this works for me. Also, ask her to use the big cuff again next time before she checks it.
Prior to getting tested again, no salt, no alcohol, no skipping meals. Sodium (salt) is found in a lot of foods, including diet drinks. Instead, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day - that will prevent you from retaining water, which causes retention of sodium. Skipping meals actually also causes retention of sodium. Alcohol is a diuretic, again causing retention of water and so sodium too.
Decrease saturated fats (cheese, processed meats).
Eat bananas if they're on your diet to naturally increase your potassium will decrease blood pressure.
I guess if you're on a WLS diet, none of the food recommendations may work. If you're on liquids only, make sure to take in the water, and stay away from diet drinks all together.
If you can take vitamins, try Coenzyme Q-10, no more than 100mg, and Garlic actually is a natural cure for high blood pressure and cholesterol.
I hope some of this helps, it really did help me. I wish you luck!
