OHLA was founded by me (a WLS postop care nurse) and founded with the ideal of being a support group BY the patients (though unfortunately I'm still preop) FOR the patients... I wanted to avoid the groups that turned out to be weekly sales pitch type things.... Because of Katrina, I landed in Texas and handed things over into the capable and awesome hands of Frances. That being said, I also had hoped to meet in different areas of the state (including up North)... so the idea of rotating group meetings is FANTASTIC! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or ideas, I could hopefully offer some advice even if nothing else. Kat

Since I'm sort of in the middle of everyone, I'd love to go to as many meeting as possible, regardless of location. Please keep us posted.

I feel just awful that I wasn't able to maintain the NOLA group... but I'd be thrilled to offer my advice and coordination if it's useful to any of you... the OHLA group is "official" because I took the time to become a registered chapter leader with OH. http://www.obesityhelpchapters.com I started OHLA in April 2005 in my living room And on my patio we held a BBQ and a crawfish boil... it started kinda small (about 10 members) but it was so worth the incredible encouragement I got... I loved it so much, I'm doing the same thing in my new hometown of Arlington TX! I'm easily available by email through OHLA or post here and I'll reply. Kat

Howdy Kat I'm talking to Monica to see what we can do to get OHLA meeting in Nola again and still be OHLA. Your baby is growing quite nicely, thanks for your support. I'll keep in touch after I get a reply from Monica and meet with the group this week. Hey, any more talk of you returning to the state? My best to your family, Fran
