Frances
We do have an official OH group cause Nurse Kat started the ball rolling to get it "official" status. She is the super organized one and I've just tried to keep it going (without the super organization).
I have an idea
Maybe our OHLA (obesityhelp Louisiana chapter) can be one organization with meetings in 3-4 places. That way, we can serve members in Metro New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Shreveport and Lafayette. (Well, there's a group in Alexandria also).
I'll send an email to the support group facilitator and see how we can branch out to serve more people. I do think your area could be much stronger in number because it was pre-K.
Let's put our minds together!
Frances
For all the people who want a group in their area why doesn't someone become a chapter leader and start a group. Anyone can become a chapter leaderand start an offical group.
I think we need to branch out as well and get more people. But I for one won't travel more that thirty minutes to a meeting. There is no way I could do that. Also I think if you move it around to much or to far you will lose what people do attend. And you may not even get anyone to attend once you start traveling.
Also if there was more advertising then I think more people would come to our groups here.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
Tina
Frances, I would be more than happy to get the ball rolling over here also. We could actually move the meetings around even, say one month, Mandeville, one month,Slidell, one month maybe Metairie, until we get enough people involved so that we can pull everyone over here together. How many people usually come to a meeting. My living room is a fairly good size, maybe we could start out with them at different peoples' homes until it got to the point that we would need more space. Then as we go along and get more members to meetings, we could hold some meetings on a regional basis in the entire state. Look at me, getting ahead of myself. We haven't even had one meeting yet. Let me know too, Frances, I would really like to be involved also in the preparations. Debbie
I live in Metairie and I would really like to be able to attend OH support meetings. What do ya'll do at these meetings? Are there any dieticians and/or other medical people who attend? Or is it just people like us who have had wls -- trying to help/get help in this adventure?
I will watch for future posts regarding this subject. Thanks.
