Hi, there! I'm fairly new here too, but I found the Insurance pages helpful. Look for your insurer and check out the reviews. If I were in your place, I think what I'd do is get a feel for the likelihood of approving appeals. If the outlook is dim, I'd then look into self-payment. You might also want to check to see if payment plans are available. Good luck!

Hello Lisa, I wanted to welcome you to the board and say that I am almost two years postop with the lap band. I hope you are very happy with your decision. Is your doctor's office helping with the insurance process? If you go self-pay, might sure to check all your South Louisiana options because we really have quite a few very good practices and self-pay providers down here. Please also visit the lap band board at: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/posts.html I look forward to getting to know you and I hope we can provide support and resources to you. Onward! Frances

Hi Lisa, I just popped in to say Hi and welcome to our lil board. I really can't help you too much with the insurance thing, but your provider should be able to. The surgeon's we used (Frances and I) do all that for you, so its not a big issue, and they are excellent surgeons. They also do self pay fairly inexpensivly, so if you have to go that route, you might want to check them out. Take care and good luck with your decision.
