5 days post op

hi everyone... i am 5 days post op ans everything is going fine..i just have one question for other post ops...every once in a while maybe once or twicw a day it feels like mt stomach is tring to exit my body through my remaining drain...sometimes it really hurts...not all the time but sometimes...did anyone else experience this? is it gas? it is the weekend and i am gonna call my dr on monday but before i do i want to make sure that it is not common...hope to hear from someone soon that can answer my question...

Carrie, I did not have this problem. They removed my drain before I left the hospital. I did have a good bit of pain tho. Try walking around, see if that helps. If it is gas, that will help alleviate some of it. Cindee

Hey Carrie, Glad your doing good,, I also didn't have the drain when I went home,, But it does sound like something that would be common,, I did have alot of stinging pain like someone was poking me with a needle if I layed a certain way and thankfully others had it too, and thats common,, Remember you have internal stitches and staples and they just may be pulling a lil bit,, I don't completly understand the feeling you are talking about but I hope its not too painful and hope you are ok!!! I agree try walking when you feel it , if it is gas that should help alot!!!

Carrie, I had my surgery on 5/16/05, and i saw u in the hospital. I have very sharp pains in my drain and it hurts very bad at times so i am pretty sure it is normal.
