What is/was ur WL at 3mths??
I am almost 3mths out and just wondering what was everyone's weight loss at 3mths out. I have lost 70pds and I know I know don't tell me thats amazing and I should be thrilled b/c I AM,, my life has completly changed and I can't wait to see what life has in store for me,, but I just feel like its sooo SLOW,, I am loosing like 6-10pds a week depending on how good I am (b/c sometimes I don't eat as well and sometimes I am just not hungry at all and can't eat) But I feel like its going slow now. I feel like I should be loosing faster,, Now I know ALOT of people haven't or didn't loose as much as me at 3mths out, but I lost like 35 or more pds the first month, so I was hoping I would loose that much every month,, Guess not,, I am sooo eager to keep dropping pds and ahhhhhhhh It feels soo slow!!! Help someone please help put my mind at ease! Thanks and hope everyone else else is doing good!
Hi, Ashleigh. I have no experience with post-op weight loss, since I haven't even gotten insurance approval yet, but I do know that if you keep your calorie content and exercise level constant, you will lose weight more slowly as time goes on because your metabolism decreases. There are two reasons for this. First, you require less energy (AKA fewer calories) when you're thinner. It takes more fuel to run a heavy body than a light body. So after you lost 35 pounds in your first month, your fuel requirements decreased. This is the same reason that Weigh****chers members have to decrease their daily points as they lose weight.
Second, when you drastically cut your energy intake, your body goes into starvation mode. Basically, instead of assuming you're trying to lose weight and get healthier, your body automatically assumes you've hit hard times and you're starving. In response, your metabolism slooooooooowwwwwwwwwws dooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwn so that you burn very little energy and store as much as you can to get through what your body thinks is some kind of extreme hardship.
Now, one thing you can do to rev up your metabolism is to do some resistance exercise to build muscle. Muscle uses up a lot of energy, so the more muscle you have, the better your metabolism will be. That's also why your dietitian wants you to eat so much protein to preserve your muscle mass.
HTH!
That is real good. I lost 35lbs the first month then 20 then 15 then it went to 8 to 10 pounds a month. It will slow down but you will keep losing. You don't want to keep losing that much because it will make you sickly looking and you will have really bad excess skin. So about ten a month is good after the first four months. I average ten a month and I'm fine with that now. Because in four months I will be at goal and a year out. So it has worked out good.

OH and yea tina,, my saggy skin is getting scary!!!!!!
Ash - I lost 100 lbs at 3 months and then I stopped losing weight for a month. You have to remember that the more you have to lose the faster it comes off. As you start getting down it will slow down.
I know I've told you this before you truly don't want to lose too fast as it causes problems.
Be very proud of what you done (I know you are) and just set some goals for yourself. By 6 months you want to have lost 40 lbs more and then if you've lost 60 you'll be thrilled.
I am at three months and I have lost 49 lbs. I too think I am losing slowly. I wanted to be at -60 at this point, but I am still happy at my loss. Every pound is a victory, I just want the war to be over faster!
You have done tremendously, but also remember how very sick you were that first month. That speeded up your loss then. Just keep up the good work, it will come off. We get too impatient, sometimes don't we?
BTW, you also did well on your site. The pics are so good!

I would be so excited with that at 3 mo. I am 5 wks out. After 2 wks I was down 20 then 26 by 3 wks. For the last 2 I have not lost anything, (maybe even up 2 or 3). They say this will change after a fill but I am so dissapointed. I was really hoping to see something by now. Is this normal? I get my first fill next week, hopefully that will help
Thanks and congrats,
Teresa
