Learning about my options

Hello my name is Christina. I am going trough TRI-Care (Army spouse) to maybe get wls. I am waiting for my surgical consultation in shreeveport. I know a little about wls I have two family members that have done RNY. Therefore I am not compleately in the dark but they both had it done in California which is where I am orginally from. Reading some of the posts I have noticed that things here in Louisiana may be much different besides the usual difference in doctors. I was wondering if anyone else has gone trough this as a Military spouse? I have a few different worries and I am trying to get togeather as much information as possible still. I want to know what I am talking about and asking about when I have my surgical consult. Is there any sites you can suggest where I can start gathering information? Thank you Christina

Christina....Who is your consult with? I am in shreveport and doctors jim and stephanie barnes did mine and highly recommend them. They are great along with their staff. Very informative. Two of their nurses have had the surgery also. I just got on this site and read alot of information and if I had any questions about what I read I wrote them down and took to doctor. My doctors gave me a lot of information to bring home and that pretty much tells it all. Good luck denise 250/187/150 revision 10/13/05

I am yet to know who the consult is going to be with. So far I am told it will be more 'n' likely in Shreveport but I haven't gotten the paper work just yet. I am sorry it has taken so long for me to reply. I have been busy.

Hi, I used Tricare, and had absolutly no problems with them whatsoever. I am in Denham Springs, and used a doc in Baton Rouge, so I can't help you there. My approval from Tricare took 2 days. Good luck with your journey.
