Just wondering....
Hi Y'all.
I had my surgery on the 24th of April. I have not been able to get any "real" exercise in since I had it. The most I can do is walk an hour. And I get so worn out from it. I am taking all my vitamins, getting in my 80 grams of protein and not having too many intolerances. Somtimes I think I can eat too much, like I can eat a half a cup of cream of wheat in the morning. Is this normal? I have lost 19 lbs as of the 12 of May, so I know I am losing, but it just seems like I should be feeling a bit more like doing things by now. I still get a good bit of pain where they put the big instrument in and manipulated the muscle too. I dunno. I guess I'm just wanting to know if anyone else experienced this ?? Thanks.
Cindee, you are able to walk for an hour less than a month out? That is fantastic. Remember, you don't just have a few little incisions.... you were cut up and rearranged in there! This is major surgery and it takes time to adjust. Give yourself time to heal and the energy will come.
As for the food, you have a "funnel" and the cream of wheat is really not a solid, so it will pass pretty quickly from your pouch. A half a cup is just 4 oz anyway, so that's not much.
That large incision is where they put the camers in and they move it around a LOT during surgery to see all the things they are doing. Those muscles take a beating, so they stay sore longer. Just be patient and don't try to pu**** too much.
Congrats on the 19lbs!!

Where they went through the muscle will be sore for a long time. Even at six months out I still had a little bit of a burning sensation there when I over did it. It takes the longest to heal because they cut the muscle there to get through. It will fade with time. And no wonder your tired an hour a day is a lot for someone just out of surgery. Does your doc want you walking that much this fast? I was told to start at fifteen minutes and add a minute everyday until I got to an hour. It was almost two months before I was walking an hour at a time. You don't want to do to much to early.
And a half a cup of Cream of wheat is not a lot. and it's runny so it goes through quicker. When you eat meat it will fill you up alot faster and stay in the pouch a lot longer.
Your doing great Cindee don't worry so much.

Tina,
I didn't say an hour a day, I said an hour. Thats about twice a week for an hour. But it does tire me out ALOT!! takes me a day or so to recoup from it. The doc told me they didn't cut the muscle, they just manipulated the camera around alot in there, and the muscle is just there, so they move it around alot. Maybe I am just pushing it too much. I tend to be in a hurry most of the time, thinking I should be able to do "normal" stuff, when the bod clearly says "I THINK NOT". Thank you. I will stop trying to be superwoman, and walk 30 min next time I go out, instead of an hour. Maybe that will help. Thanks for the words of wisdom. By the way, Congrats on your size 14!! thats sooo wonderful!!
I'm sorry I thought you meant an hour a day whew that would be alot right now. Try about fifteen minutes a day and work your way up if you can't do that start at five minutes a day. It's better to do a little every day than to do alot once or twice a week. It will get easier though and you will feel a lot better too.
That's good that they didn't cut your muscle. He had to cut through mine to get the stapler in and then sew it back together.
Thanks I'm excited to be in a fourteen now I can't wait to get into a 12.

Hi Cindee.... I had my bat in hand and I was looking for you. Lucky you, you were signed off.
Give my friend some grace, cause she's doing fantastic!
You are ahead of the pack on weight loss, movement (I don't eat cream of wheat), but I'm sure you will be painting the house in no time.
Onward (to look for you!)
Frances
Girl, you sound like you are doing great. You are at the time where I felt exhausted. My third week I was so tired. One day I slept till about 2:30 and just could not get going. That was also when I hit my first stall and thought I had failed. Just follow your surgeon advice and you will do great.
Hugs,
Jodi
