I was going to wait to post until.......
I was 100 % better but I'm not sure when that will be. I had my surgery May 8th and came home May 11th. I am doing okay as far as pain goes but I cant get past this queasy or nauseated feeling I have. I am doing my best to take in fluids but I can not stomach ANY of the protein supplements and I have tried quite a few. Doctor O. is aware and has put me on reglan 4 x's/day but I still cant get any protein supplements down. I have an appointment with him next thursday and I was just wandering did anyone else go through this post-op or does anyone have any suggestions. I'm thinking that perhaps it will get better with time. Does anyone know? Any help would be appreciated.

My doctor told me not to even try the protein until I was two weeks out. I didn't listen and tried one a week out and I paid for it. Once I was two weeks out I tried again and did so much better. I was also on clear liquids for the first two weeks. I know some people are on pureed but that was a no go for me. I personally don't think it hurts to wait till your little pouch has time to heal and even at two weeks that is still early.
Wishing you the best.

I was nauseated and queezy, but I was getting stuff down. Dr. O actually let me try mashed potatoes and that worked.
I was horribly sick in the hospital, and I stayed there for four days. I was throwing up and constantly on the Phenergan. It finally got better about a week out.
I really do hope you feel better...
and the protein dr. O recommends is just an ounce at a time at first
Mona,
I am 10wks out and STILL can't tolerate protein,, I am just getting to the point where I can do SOME, but only very very lil and like 2 sips every hour,,, I would try maybe the carnation and ff milk, that does the best for me, and you can add some powdered milk to make more protein, or just try sipping on that,, not alot of protein but better than nothing,, Dr. O also put me on reglan, it helped but not a huge amount, I say try waiting a lil longer see what happens, I also hear if you make the shakes with water they go down easier,, don't taste better but ,,,, Also try carb countdown milk, I hear that helps alot , its alot easier,,, Good Luck,, and just make sure you can get something in as far as fluids otherwise you may need to be dialated!
