Feeling Alone!
I don't know if it is just me or if it is others. I go to support group in Lafayette and I feel like an outsider. I had my surgery in California and I know that the rules are different with every doctor but I feel wierd asking for help when the doctors and the programs have such different points of view. My husband is supportive only from the at home stand point and I don't know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any advise?
Sarah
I don't know the laffy support group or people,, but at the baton rouge support group we have people from allllllllll over, alomst everyone has a different doctor and like you said has different "rules" so to say,, but we all are making progress and doing the best we can,,, NO ONE is better than another person and knows more ,, well frances may!!!! joke frances!!!!! If you can try some other support groups,, OA is a good one,, see if any doctor's there have support groups you can join for free or for a small fee, thats what I am doing ,, and also try to find some friends who have had the same surgery and are supportive there,, if not ,, be friends with us in baton rouge,, THEY are alll amazing people who are very sweet and supportive!!!! I know you can email me anytime and Ill listen and give my 2 sense!!!
I am not sure the exact dates now, I believe they changed them so a thursday now,, Email frances and she can give you all the info,, sometimes they have alot of people sometimes they don't ,, it**** or miss,, But if you are down this way anytime let me know and maybe me you and frances and whoever else wants to come can go to lunch or something!
That sounds great. I work downtown Baton Rouge and do have flexibility on my lunch time and how long I can take. I ocassionally have meetings out of town so not at office 5 days a week but usually have my calendar current at least a month ahead. Let me know when and where. I seem to have become obsessed with the message board and read almost all of them. I haven't quite changed my eating habits yet but working on it.
Hi Sarah,
I go to a support group in Lafayette -- we're all from the same 2 doctors in New Orleans. We're all pretty close but Katrina has wreaked havoc on the support group. I've heard good things about Southwest Medicals support groups but I haven't attended one as of yet. Feel free to email me -- I'm not so far from Lafayette and go there most weekends. Oh, I had my surgery on Aug. 9, 2005 just before Katrina. It was an open RNY
You had your surgery in California, are you new to the area? I know how it is to be an outsider! I'd really like to help, let me know if there is anything I can do.
