I am on my liquid diet b/c my surgery is a week from today and I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not I could have oatmeal prepared thin with water - just plain oatmeal with no sugar added. I have been told that i could have cream of wheat but i dont really like it so i was wondering if any knew about oatmeal and if i cant have it does anyone know why? thanks for your help Erin

On your liquid diet before surgery you should have nothing but liquid and it should be clear, such as broths. Who told you could have cream of wheat? Check with your doctor they will tell you what you can have. Tina

Hey erin, I had the same questions yesterday and got way to many answers so I called jan at dr stevens office b/c I want grits soooo bad..Anyway she said probably wouldnt be a good idea for grits or cream of wheat or oatmeal...Even made thin....But she did say we could have all the suger free jello and popsickles we want...I have probably gone through 2 pkgs of jello in the past 2 days....Anyway..Oh yeah try cream of potato soup.. You mix it with milk it was good..I didnt eat the potato's I just ate the soup and it was really good...Do not try the cream of broccoli..Grosssssssssssss....Anyway...Good luck I know your surgery is Tuesday and mine is Monday so see ya in the halls....
