Maybe things have changed Heather but I have never been allowed to see him since the day of surgery.  I was told in advance that I would not see him again unless I had problems. However I did not know that meant unless they felt I had a problem.  Many things could have changed since 07.  So if your friends will be truly satisfied not seeing the doctor, all good.  If not, unless things have changed, they need to go elsewhere. In my opinion the band can require more after care that you originally anticipate.  A good repriore with the person giving that care is essential whether it be the doctor or NP.  To answer your question.  I love my band.  I hope it continues to love me.

Hi Z,
 Thanks for the heads up. Not sure why the BA chewable vites make me get sick. Dr O definitely does not want me to get sick because my staple line is still new.  He asked that I crush them and mix them in yogurt or applesauce. Yeah... that just doesn't sound good either.  Someone mentioned liquid vites and I thought that might work for me.  I can swallow big tabs, no problems.  I will have to check out the brands you mentioned. I really need my vites!!!

PS how are you liking your Band? Is the after care with Dr Oldham good for the Band?? I have a few friends that I referred to him for the Band.

Seems like you are doing good.  Noticed we had same surgeon.  Never took the BA vitamins but I do take vits daily, preferably from Puritan's Pride or Nature's Bounty, most that I take are chewable and or small.  My multi-vitamin is gummy.  Don't know about sleeve and swallowing but with band I try good tasting chewable.  Don't know if you have trouble with gas but the Bromelain from Puritan's Pride is good, chewable and pineapple flavored.  I get them when its buy one get two free.  Not soliciting, just giving you food for thought.  You may need a special kind of vitamin.  Ask them when you go back if u are interested in changing.  Take care and best wishes,

I went with Dr Oldham and was done at Baptist East in Louisville. Great Dr!!! No matter what other people have said, my experience has been wonderful. Dr O called me at home post op to check on me. When I do follow ups with the NP, she mentions that he ask her for reports on me. So to say they dont care is crazy. For me, I enjoy the Dr's and the after care is perfect. If you need someone to coddle you, then you should see your PCP regularly. Your bariatric Dr sees you at intervals. Side note... every Dr will have good and bad reviews. Every patient is different and expects different things.

As far that Band being jacked, well have you read the complications page on LapBandTalk.com ?!?!? Just saying.

 Why did I only drink half my protein shake.  The whole shake would have been at least close to my carbs.  But noooooooo.  I at chips.  Yes within my calorie range but once again not making the best of my calories.  Why do I complain?  It is so easy for me to snack more and do right less.  If I don't complain the bad choices not only remain but increase.  Journaling helps me to be accountable for my actions, positive or negative.  Here's what I ate yesterday.

 Still full of grins and giggles so I guess things are going well.  Food and appetite good but carbs are still high.  Added cod liver oil as part of my vitamin regimin.  My eating seems to be more in line with a person on maintenance.  However I am trying to lose without my body thinking it is starving.  Friday's menu
