Topic: RE: DR JOHN OLDHAM
I had my surgery with Dr. Oldham on Friday, 9/25/09, in Mayfield.  I live in Paducah.  So far, so good.

I met with Dr. Oldham the morning of my surgery.  He was very friendly & down to earth, and very informative.  I felt very comfortable with him and that is saying a lot, because I had a lot of anxieties going into surgery.

Had Dr's Oldham & Weiss not made themselves accessible in Western Kentucky, I don't know where I would have gone for my surgery.  But, I do know it would have been a drive of at least a couple of hours.  Meaning, a drive of at least a couple of hours (each way) for each fill & office visit...and, basically each fill would have taken a day away from me.  A day away from my work @ Easter Seals, which I HATE missing...a day away from taking/picking up my son from school...a day away, period.  So, I will gladly sacrifice seeing Dr. Oldham, to only drive 25 minutes to the Mayfield office for my fills and office visits with his PA, Lori, and Program Director, Petra.  They too, are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Dr. Oldham did call me at home on Monday morning to see how I was doing.  Not a PA, nurse, or receptionist...it was Dr. Oldham.  It was a very nice gesture...not typical of surgeons, or physicians in general.

Dr. Oldham performed the surgery...but my body is ultimately my responsibility.  If I feel that something is out of sync or I am not responding well to the fills, then it is my responsibility to inform the PA and insist he/she investigates what is going on.

A spend-down medical card works much like a regular medical card with the same criteria.  There is family medical where you have kids in the home or are pregnant, and then there is adult medical where you have to be aged (65), blind, or disabled (deemed by social security).  You won't be eligible for any of these, I've worked for the state for 8 years now.

Topic: RE: I am no longer starving
Hi Jacqueline,

I guess I have been nervous eating. It was crazy I was really eating everything insight. Like for example Mollie is really into this baking thing right now(which isn't too bad because I am not really a cake/cookie/bread type person more candy if it is a sweet thing) however last Thursady she was dying to make this cake( nothing exciting just plain old butter recipe yellow cake) well once it cooled and was ready to be iced she had to do homework so I iced it, when she excitedly cut into it she and Patrick discovered the majority of the middle of the cake was icing well guess were that part of the cake was yup in my stomach( I don't like cake unless it is chocolate or carrot cake) and that is just one example I can thinkof right now at 3 in the morning.

I did notice as you said when I am nervous like was today about  the are not so bad  weekend visitation changes(Mollie has to go to Indiana once a month not such a big deal as when the judge first told us)that I felt super duper restriction, in fact I could get the 4-6 ounces into it was just a matter of them staying once there.

Ken,  how are you doing with your DS and did you have any major problems?  I would love to have the DS, but after reading  a few of the recent posts on the DS board I have just about decided he is not the doctor for me.

Wendy,  I did not realize I was a nervous eater until my mother was sick and passed away.  Boy did I learn quickly sitting at the hospital all night, just how much I was eating.  This was way before my lapband though.

Now when I get nervous, upset or anything my band tightens up on me and I can't eat a thing.

Topic: Friends are too great
Our friends are too great and apparently Patrick, Mollie and I are blind

After Pat's beloved  Steeler's lost Sunday one of our very good friends made and enormous Bengals WHODEY sign and taped it to the side of our house. We didn't notice it until this morning sadly Pat conceded to the fact that so far his team is less than awesome this year and he gently took down his steelers flag that was in the flag pole next to our garage, folded it up lovingly and placed it in a shoe box in our house.
The lady who lives next door brought me cookies shaped like tomb stones that are yellow and black.
