Topic: Postive postings -- add yours!
I was reading on the thread below about no one ever posting anything any more and saw a great suggestion that we should try posting something positive and non-controversial each day.  That is a terrific way for us to share our weight loss journeys and encourage and lift up one another!  Let's do it!

I'll be glad to start today's positive postings.  I am wearing a shirt that is a regular size large today and I wore one yesterday that is a medium.  I bought both of them at TJ Maxx and was shocked when I tried them on that I could wear them.  Just 3 months ago I was wearing a size 4X (30/32).  Last night I bought a beautiful new suit at Macy's.  I'm looking forward to wearing it when I go to California for work later this month.  I have a whole closet full of new clothes and it feels great.

I hope everyone is doing well and I'm excited to read your positive postings!

I just hope more people start posting I was so happy to see even the smallest persoal or WLS vistory. WIth all the negative that is going on in the world even posts about the most in general thing are a breath of fresh air. I am sure you all are sick of my stories of our trips to sports events and parties but it is just proof that WLS has giiven me my life back. I love when you all share stories of your families and leave funny messages. I have never met any of you except Brenda Gold and just reading your posts is like having long lost friends.
I know we aren't always going to agree on which suregery and which docotor is the best(I love mine and am one of his"cheerleaders")but I really have a lot of respect and admiration for the other doctor's when you think of the training and self sacrifice(i.e. time away from family, friends and literally having another humans life in their hands) you can't help to respect them.

I say everyday we each post at least one positive thing even if it something totally off the wall and not WLS related like I managed not to turn all of Patrick's white dress shirts pink today when I washed a brand new bright red sweater of Mollie's with it on accident

Here's happy positive thoughts,
Wendy

I just started lurking.  It seemed each time I posted there was someone else jumping on my post.  Or arguing, I go to the chat room on msn BrendaGold started a few months ago, I miss the oldies who helped us through hard times, sharing their experiences and pats on the back.
It seemed their opinions and experiences meant little to the new group of people who took over the board.  Oh well, hope everyone is well and enjoys Halloween!!

I can only speak for myself but it seems like everytime people start to post stuff on here..even everyday stuff...others would ridicule the posts. I miss OH and alot of us need it badly. But then when we have to weigh the pros and cons....the cons win. I still read and lurk but I am honestly not up for the drama of fighting over who's Dr is the best, who's surgeon is the best, who is doing what to whom. It is great if people see it that they have the best and to share their experiences is what its all about. But no one is better than another nor is their surgeon/surgery.  I need this board. I have alot going on personally which has caused me alot of issues with my eating and staying on track! It blows.....

Topic: Groups & Activity

The last several months have been fairly busy ones here at OH and we are really excited
about this upcoming release. First, long overdue is the public release of OH Groups. You
will now be able to start and  manage your own public groups. Second, is a major update
to Health Tracker....Activity! We are planning to release these new features on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2009.

OH Groups

Getting to OH Groups is easy. Just click on the Groups tab at the top of any page on ObesityHelp. OH Groups allows you to start and manage your own groups, you can find groups that suit your interests and find support groups in your area.
If you are looking for an OH Group that focuses on a specific topic, you can browse groups by category.

Activity

To get to your Activity Tracker, click “My OH" at the top of any page on ObesityHelp, select “Health Tracker" on the left and then click the “Activity" tab.

Understanding your total daily caloric expenditure requires more than just knowing how many calories you burned on the treadmill. In your Health Tracker settings area you are now able to estimate the caloric expenditure of your resting metabolic rate (RMR) and lifestyle. These estimates are integrated and displayed with the caloric expenditure of the activities you have logged.
Your exercise log allows you to search for and add strength training exercises, cardiovascular exercises and general activities to your daily log. Caloric expenditure is auto calculated for a number of activities already included in our database of exercises. Pie charts display details about caloric expenditure and time for each type of activity.
Sets can be added and subtracted from strength training exercises. Reps and weight used can be entered for each set.
A number of details can be tracked for cardiovascular exercises and general activities. Some of these variables include, time, distance, calories burned, average heart rate, average power, altitude gained and average grade.
If you can’t find the exercise or activity you have participated in, you can also add your own custom exercises.
Other updates include the ability to create list of your favorite exercises, reports have been updated to include a number of activity items, the nutrition search has been enhanced and we have managed to slip in a sweet macronutrient report under the “Reports" tab.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the features in this release, please submit those here.

If your are new to ObesityHelp or have not used ObesityHelp's Health Tracker before, you can learn about the first release here and the second release here.

I check this board pretty often, but agree that it has very little activity.  I tried to start a general thread a while back, but didn't get many responses.

Let's see, I'll tell you all about my shopping trip yesterday with my daughter.  She's 16 and a tiny thing -- usually wears a size 2.  We went to TJ Maxx and she kept picking out tops for me to try on, but they were in sizes that I didn't think I could possibly fit into!  Well, I am wearing a top today that is a size MEDIUM and I have another one that is a large that I'll probably wear tomorrow.  I do think they are both cut very generously, but just 3 months ago I was wearing a 4X or 30/32.  Being able to fit into any medium or large top regardless of the cut feels absolutely amazing.

I see my surgeon next week for a follow up appointment.  According to my scale, I'm down 69 pounds.  I hope he's as pleased with my progress as I am.
