Topic: Nortons Bari Halloween Shin-dig! and a happy note
I had a great time at the Norton bariatric Reunion Halloween Party. I dressed like an 80's chick and danced with many of the nice ladies who have helped me along my journey. Erin the new co-ordinator created this idea and I for one think it was a good thing. The people who were there lost a combined total of 5000+ pound- that is over 2.5 tons!!! So no matter where we were in our journey to weight loss goal we were all a part of that number. And a party that had all bari friendly foods!!! Whoo Hoo!
MY thanks goes out to Norton and Erin for making this happen!
the little happy note was that I fit into a size 14 jean today...wooo hooo!! and pant too. I have not worn a 14 for more than 17/18 years!!! I am sooo happy. I probably need to try on a medium top but I will wait for a bit.
That is my happy note.
have a great night!

Topic: RE: soo tired ??
13 is pretty low Sandy, I am also tired all the time but I am taking care of my mother who is very ill. I thought I was just worn out. I ask Dr. Sonnanstine to send me up an order to give my PCP so he could check my blood last week .my iron was 11. Dr. Sonnanstine had Steve (his nurse) set me up for an iron infusion this Wed..I would definitely speak to someone in your surgeons office about your levels.
I also receive B-12 injections..that's a must for me.

That is awesome - I so needed your post tonight - i am really bummed - you are making fabulous progress and it is great to recognize the health "comorbidity" issues that come with the RNY. Keep up the great work!
Topic: thankful..
i have been thinking the past few days about my Rny and the weight i have already lost..i am down 73lbs as of this morning and i am so happy about that...as much as i love the number.. i realize that i have lost other things since surgery that are more important and maybe instead of telling people the number when im asked what i have lost i need to reply about the other things..i no longer have diabetes ( this is a huge thing that i dont give enough credit to--my mom suffers terribly from hers and my sister who is much smaller than me is fighting everyday to get hers under control- i no longer have high blood pressure or have to take medicine ..i no longer have to ask my children to do for me because i am too tired or just too lazy...i also need to remember to share the things i have gained since surgery..a new perspective on food and the amts that i eat and the foods i buy for my family..i have gained a new respect for myself as well as a new respect from my husband..my children now have a mother who can spend time with them ..i also have found an ability to walk ...that is huge for me as i have shared before my inability to do so ...i am so thankful for my gift of RNY and all it has given me and taken from me...thanks for letting me share :))

Topic: RE: Help ...
Certain foods can cause gout to flare up, which are foods high in purine and cause uric acid to build up in your blood. Foods to limit or avoid include: beer and other alcoholic beverages, gravies and sauces made from meat, anchovies, sardines, herring, mussels, tuna, codfish, scallops, trout, haddock, bacon, organ meats (such as liver and kidney), tripe, sweetbreads, wild game, goose, yeast and yeast extracts.
Of course, it is important to continue to get plenty of protein in your diet, so choose foods such as: eggs, peanut butter and nuts (if tolerable), dairy products, dried beans, peas, and lentils, chicken and turkey.
