I used Dr. Shina out of Louisville. I really like him and he is a good doc for me. I would say shop around until you find one you build a rapore with. IT really is quite important you feel comfortable. My hubby and mom both liked him too. He is not a warm fuzzy person all the time, but he DOES see you when you go to your appointments. He talks to me and answers my questions and is a first rate surgeon. So that is what I wanted.
Many others love Tanner and Geller for band- and my other friend had tanner for by pass. I had by pass and have been very pleased.

Hi I am I teach pre-K. Welcome to the area. I do live in Etown and remember all to well what it was like to be new to the area.
The gals are great and have been the most amazing support to me as I ventured thru this journey. Rebecka is a super woman and also a bandster! She is friendly supportive and truely amazing.
I used TriCare for my surgery and have to say the support groups in Louisville are great. I do not get to go as often as I would like but, when i do it is always worth it. I hope that you call Norton and find out about the support group- you will meet some amazing ladies and find lots of fun!

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! This year has gone by so quickly. It has been a very good year for me and I plan to make 2010 even a better year. The surgery has given me a pain free life back. I am so grateful for finding this forum and for being able to have the surgery. I will be 62 in February and I hope to be at goal by that time. What a way to age! I have had so many WOW moments in the last few weeks. But the one that I keep hearing over and over is 'you look younger'. My goodness, I must have looked old!

Even though I have had some problems and health issues with the surgery, I still am grateful that Dr. Shina did the surgery. There are times he seems in his own little world and just dropping by ours for a quick visit. But I like him. He will answer any questions and is happy to give you all the information you need to make a well informed decision. He is direct and to the point and is one busy surgeon. I think he is direct and to the point because he is very busy. The office staff are great and will answer any questions you have, also, and have always been nice. I understand that you either like him or you don't. He will hold you hand if you need it, but he expects you to follow his rules and if you do, you know and he knows, things will turn out okay. If you want a non-nonsense doctor, who will answer your questions and be there if you need him, then Dr. Shina is for you.
