Thanks for the info, hillofbeans! Leslie...I know where Prestonsburg is and I appreciate the offer to join you all, but I think that is too far for me to drive, especially in the winter months...lol.
Topic: Everyone Have Electricity?
I am lucky. I got about 8 inches of snow at my house but only lost power for 2 hrs. Friday evening.
My family is 2 hrs. away in VA and have no power, phone, or water......they may be coming to stay a couple of days with me....or until they resume service.....3-5 days.....I know my father can't leave his dogs that long.
Hope everyone is safe and warm!
I have power and if you need a shower, a place to sleep or do laundry, let me know!

There are several of us in the Somerset area. There is a support group meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Commonwealth Bariatric Center, which is adjacent to Dr. Husted's office. Come join us in February. Meetings start at 6:30pm.

Hello and welcome to the board!
I am about 2- 2.5 hrs. from Somerset....I think.... lol
It is hard to find support groups in the rural areas.
A few of us in eastern KY, meet around Paintsville or Prestonsburg about once a month. You are always welcome to join in!
Last year, I made a trip to Louisville and participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness walk with some other OH members.
If you find anything, please post as I am always open to new opportunities!
Good luck with your move and happy holidays!

Hi Dee,
I am up north across fro Cincinnati but I have made some excellent friends on this board that are extremely supportive that are located in your are Georgetown Bariatric has a wonderful support group at that hospital but there also some wonderful women on her who frequently get together for some food, laughs, support and ideas on how to get through this.
I felt very alone at first when I had the surgery but the men and women on here have really helped me a lot.
If you don't get a response immediately don't get frustrated this board can one day be jumping with ideas and comments and the other deader than a door nail
Good luck,
Wendy

I love the snow and wanted to go out and try and build a snowman and couldn't get anyone to go help me, so I just gave up and stayed indoors!!
Topic: Anyone in the Somerset area?
Hi! *Waves*
I'm going to be moving into Somerset at the end of January. I've already found a doctor that is willing to take on a "follow up only" patient, since I had my surgery already. However; I have not found a support group that is atleast sorta local, at all. So instead I'll put some feelers out and see if there are actual people in the area that are willing to get together, or know of any support groups or personal get togethers that I can join or step into. So...if anyone is in the area, give me a shout!

Topic: RE: Doctors....insurance and out of pocket expenses
I know that Dr. Sonnanstine in Georgetown does, Dr. Weiss and Oldham, also practice in G-town but are located in Lexington and they do, but I would not use them. Those are really the only three WLS doctors I have had experience with, but I think that Dr. Husted is trying to get the hospital in Somerset, KY COE approved so he can accept them.
