Filter for blood clots?
Anyone out there have to have a filter implanted for blood clots prior to surgery? I am supposed to have one before surgery but am having second thoughts about it. One guy posted having several problems develope 2 years after his surgery due to the filter and causing many problems. Has anyone else had problems?
Violet,
I have met and spent time with Dr. Weiss, I know he is a very competent surgeon.. I am sure he would want to answer this question for you personally. I did not have a filter put in but know of others who have..there must be a reason he feels it's necessary and I would certainly ask him to explain.
There is always a risk in any surgery..blood clots making up a large part of that..I would say ask questions of your surgeon, never walk away without them answered.
As a patient advocate I cannot stress how important it is to have an open communication with your doc. If you are uncomfortable with any advice or procedures then let them know..give them the opportunity to hear how you feel and why. If going to Dr. Weiss is something you are not comfortable with then let me know..I will be happy to relay your question..
I can either post his answer here or email/forward his answer to you directly..
