I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good protein shakes. I would like to sample some before my surgery so I can find one that I like.
Tara,
Hi! I've tried lots of the Protein shakes and found only a few that I thought were decent.
EAS Protein Drinks - The Cappacino Caramel is really good. Also, the Kroger stores have these buy one get one free pretty often which makes them very affordable.
Muscle Milk - High protein milk drinks from GNC. The chocolate and strawberry are good.
Slim-Fast Low Carb - I like the chocolate ones (dark & regular) but I don't care for any other flavors. They are also a little expensive.
Hood Carb Counters Milk Drink - I like to mix 8 oz. of the chocolate with a pack of sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast and a tablespoon of sugar free peanut butter and mix in the blender. Taste like a Reece's cup.
Unjury unflavored - many people use this to mix into flavored waters and Jello and puddings.
Hope this helps!
Charles

I think I'm the pro right now at protien sampling. So far not many have gotten past the tasting stage
and then it all depends on if my pouch can tolerate it. If my pouch don't like it, it feels like litte razors sliding thru my innards. For me the protien bars are a
way too much pain involved. Therefore I strongly recommend you don't spend too much $$$ pre-op the way I did. Right now, I think I'm going to be able to handle the Unjury brand and I have been using the Carnation Instant Breakfasts some as well - if and only if I drink it super slow.
Everyone's different though, Good Luck and God Bless
Angi
