Banded three months, -69 pounds

I noted the discussion regarding appetite and the band and although I usually keep my Lap Band discussions on the Band forum so as not to rile up the RNYers (I think everyone should have the surgery they are comfortable with, personally, but it seems not all people think as I do). Well, I just wanted to share that I am 91 days out from my surgery, I have had two fills and I am not perfectly adjusted yet but I'm getting there, I've never thrown up or anything of the sort with my band, and I'm down 69 pounds in 91 days. And yes, my appetite is drastically dimmed. Guess everyone's experience is different, but since both the band and RNY create a smaller "pouch" stomach, I'm not sure why there would be much difference in hunger between either. Perhaps it does take a lot more self-control to follow the "band guidelines" but I can tell you I am no paragon of self-control so I don't think that much applies to me. What I have done is started eating like a thin person. I don't diet. I eat what I want, though I notice my wants have changed somewhat since my band was implanted. My hope is that this change in eating habits will continue with me throughout my life. Since my band can be a part of me for the rest of my life, I think this will be the case. Peace, Kristina

So happy for you!!! I agree each person that decides to have WLS must have the surgery that is best for them. I had RNY and a good friend of mine has a lap band. We both are doing fine with no problems. Best wishes on your new and improved life!!!! Each day is a blessing from above!! Blessings Tonya

I couldn't agree more this is a personal choice and no one can make that but you...I had RNY and really don't know enough about the band to make a decision for anyone..I don't see anything wrong with a post on here about this subject..I believe controversy educates us.. Maybe I missed it or just read it wrong but I don't think I saw any one bashing the band. Thanks for the thread.. Brenda
