Hello, I am feeling kind of blue about my weight loss so far. I had surgery on March 24, 2005. I weighed 311 the morning of surgery. I have lost 68 pounds so far. I now weigh 243. Which is all well and good. I am happy that I have lost that much. What gets me down is things like this, a friend of mine had surgery one month after me, she started at 296 and she is down to 214. She drinks cokes, eats cake, I don't know what all else. Where as I follow the 2 oz rule and don't eat nothing I am not supposed to. I do drink a diet coke zero every now and then. But I am only losing 10 pounds a month. Give or take a little. Back in May when I saw my surgeon he told me he didn't see any reason I wouldn't be at his goal by Christmas. His goal for me is 157. When I saw him 3 months ago I had lost 38 pounds. I have only lost 30 pounds since then and I see him again this Wednesday. I am just wondering, is there any way to kick start my weight loss? Am I doing as bad as I feel I am? I do so want to be at his goal by Christmas, but if I keep losing 10 pounds only a month I don't see it happening. Is there anything to do to speed things along any? I go to the gym and do my treadmill work out every other day. I walk 30 mins a day here at home. I just don't know what else to do. Sometimes I feel like losing 68 pounds in less than 5 months is great and others I feel like I am not doing something I should be. My surgeon is in with Rite Weigh. I got a email from Rite Weigh the other day asking me how I was and stuff and when I replied the guy from there told me to ask Dr Shina this Wednesday how to lose the rest of my 80 pounds in 5-6 months. Is that even possible? Man, I hope so. If not I know I will lose it. It might be 10 pounds a month, but it will come off. I started out in a size 28 and now wear a 16. To me that is a great accomplishment, lol. I can finally shop on the skinny side of Walmart! I was just curious to see if there is anything to do to boost a little more weight loss! Thanks for listening! Love and God Bless Angela

At the conference this weekend one of the speakers recommended taking either 50mg DHEA or 500mg - Carnitine. Both are natural herbal supplements that stimulate metabolism. I took my first Carnitine this morning and it is a horse pill! The DHEA is a much smaller pill, so I'd recommend it instead. As with any medications, herbal or not, ask your doctor first. Also, change your habits. If you are not eating much, eat more. If you are snacking, stop it. A change in habits can jump start things. Sometimes we can not eat enough and our body goes into starvation mode. Eating more actually boosts metabolism. We should eat about 1200 calories a day. Depending on the types of foods we eat, it could be hard to actually get in that many calories. Lastly, don't compare yourself with others. It is the most sure way to get yourself down about your weight loss. Instead, think of how far you HAVE come. Everyone loses differently. Not one of us is going to be exacly like the others who have had surgery even on the same day as we did. It took me a long time to learn that, but eventually I let it go. Most of all, stay positive. You'll get there. Good luck!

Hello, I don't know why I was feeling so blue the other day, lol. Prelude to PMS I guess. I am losing 10-13 pounds a month, in the beginning it seemed I lost more per month, but oh well. I am still losing 10-13 a month and today when I saw Dr Shina he was happy with me. He says to keep going like I am going and I need to lose 50-60 more pounds. If he is happy I am happy. Hugs Angela What is the DEA 50mg and the caritine 500mg for? Where do u get it at? Is it supposed to help me lose more than I am losing?
