I need Help (only 5 days out)
I am only 5 days out of surgery and cant seem to keep anything down. I feel sick more than I feel good. It seems that I have more pain than I did when I got out of the hospital. I have alot of gas on my stomach. How do I get rid of it. My doctor said I can be on a full liquid diet, but I havent found anything that I can actually keep down, even water. Is it normal to have "buyers remorse", I have regretted this everyday, and please don't tell me wait until I lose weight, I wont feel this way. (I'm sorry in advance, I don't want to offend anyone) I just need something to help me through this. Please keep me in your prayers and thoughts, I don't know how I will get through this. I have plenty of support from my family and my hubby and kids, but they have no idea how I feel, only those who have done this before. Please help me if you can
Sabrina,
When you have access pain and nausea your surgeon should be notified. Always make sure there is not a medical problem ..
Once your surgeon checks you out and if they give you a good bill of health. I am sure they will supply you with any information or medication you may need to get your through this..

I just wanted to let you know, that I am doing much better now. My lactose intolerance is gone, milk and pudding (yummy), just had my week appt. yesterday, 22 1/2 pounds down. Not regretting it as much, I went back to work on Wednesday, doing good. I really appreciate it you replying to my post, I really needed some encouraging words to help me through. I dont have any nausea now, and like I said I'm eating pudding, but come Monday its soft foods, woo hoo.

Sabrina,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems after WLS. Just wanted to let you know that I've heard of other people also having "buyers remorse" as you called it and that it is normal to feel that way. I won't tell you that you'll feel better after you lose (since you told everyone not too).
As far as the gas pains go, there were 2 things that worked for me: lots of walking (at least a little around the house every hour) and Gas-X when the pain gets unbearable. The gas pains lasted about a week total and got better each day.
I'm not sure what to tell you about the nausea ... I'll tell you what I ate on the liquids phase and maybe that will give you ideas. I mostly had SF pudding (Jello chocolate pre-mixed cups), low sugar yogurt drinks (Danon), SF popsicles (generic from Wal-Mart), the liquid from Cambell's chicken noodle soup (I liked this better than regular broth), flavored water (raspberry, lemonade, pink lemonade, strawberry lemonade), and protein shakes (my favorite is 8 oz. Hood's Carb Countdown Chocolate with 1 pack SF Carnation Instant Breakfast and a scoop of Low Sugar Peanut Butter - mix in a blender and it tastes just like a Reeces Cup!).
Best wishes and I hope you feel better soon!
Charles
