Has anyone had to prove they quit smoking for 6 months with Bluegrass Family Health? Is this a new requirement?

Since you are going to G-town my guess is that it's a recommendation of the Psychologist NOT for the insurance company. As far as I know the surgeons only require that you be smoke free for 1 month. BGFH DOES require a recent doc supervised diet such as Weigh****chers or a doc supervised diet AND you can't lose more than 12 lbs during those 6 months.

The insurance company stated in the denial letter that proof was needed after 6 months ( blood work). This was my second denial by the way. My first denial was because of the 6 month diet which I completed and submitted only to get turned down for this smoking thing. I have stopped smoking and I feel this is their way of prolonging my approval. My pcp said he had never heard of such a thing. I decided to appeal since I've been waiting for such a long time.

Geeze, that's a first. Never heard of such. I don't think that bloodwork will show nicotine in the blood after 30 days. Never heard of an insurance company requiring bloodwork to show 6 months of non-smoking. That must be a new requirement.
