!!!!!stomach has stretched!!!!!
I hope someone will be able to help you. If you don't get a reply here, you might try the main message board.
It's my undertanding that it isn't uncommon for the stomach to return to a normal size after 18-24 months. I have two friends who have had RNY and that happened to both of them and both had gained a lot back a few years after surgery, which is why I chose the band instead. But I know this isn't the way it goes with everyone. There are lots of people who are successful with RNY too! Hopefully someone who knows about RNY can offer some advice. I know sometimes people get them re-done or even get their RNY revised to another bypass surgery style or even a band, so I'm sure there are several options out there for you! Hang in there. Best of luck.
Peace,
Kristina

I think the key is that the stomach can't stretch unless there is too much being put into it. We must always remain mindful of our portion sizes and make sure that we are not ingesting a larger volume than we should be, even many months and years after this surgery, if we want it to continue to be successful. It is a tool, we know how to use it and we must take care of it if it is going to serve us well.
My capacity right now is about 3/4 - 1 cup of semi-solid food (less for pure protein). That is fine with me and I'd like it to stay that way! I find that I can eat enough to not have it be glaringly obvious to others that I've had surgery AND it's enough to satisfy my need for feeling like I've eaten a meal. I still tend to get a couple of hiccups when my pouch is full which is great, it confirms to me that I've had enough!
Good luck to you... go back to the basics and I bet your stomach will shrink down a bit and you'll be satisfied with less... AND you will start to lose again.

this may not be good advice beings i am new to the surgery. But stop eating food food for about 2 weeks if you are able to tolerate it go back on a liquid mushy diet and watch your stomach shrink back down.. It does this before the surgery and will continue to do this after it.. You know if you stop eating before you had the surgery and loose weight your stomach shrinks allowing less food to enter so try it.. see what happens...
