Kentucky Humana Anyone?

I met with my internist today at St Joes, and I was told during my one on one session that Humana requires a 6 month medically supervised diet before they will approve you. I had contacted Humana twice before asking specifically and was told the only requirement is that you be 100 lbs or more overweight. So while I was in the office today I called them back and asked specifically about the diet and they told me it was not necessary. Has anyone else run up against this? I already have my appeal letter typed and ready to go with the names and dates of everyone at Humana I have talked to incase they try to deny my claim. Any info would be helpful!

Hi.. I actually work for Humana... the thing is ... everyone;s plan is different. We adminster what your employer has chosen.. so it would be hard to say without knowing your employers plan... i would suggest calling the customer service again.. documenting as you have been whom you spoke to.... and asking them.... ask for a copy of your policy .... they would be more than happy to send it to you... some Humana plans do not even cover the surgery.. again .. it really in the end is up to the plan your employer has decided to go with.. good luck....

Thanks for the info Tonya! I really appreciate the info (especially from someone who works there, and KNOWS) Congrats on your loss! Hope things are going a bit better for you now. (I seen that you had been having complications). Thanks again!
