Hi folks since there are transplants here I want to send my two cents.. I am from the Cinci area both parents from Kentucky..Did I hear someone mention somerset? That is where my mom is from.. I had my surgery in Dayton Ohio but have been adopted by Dr. Tom Sonnanstine..I spend alot of time with his group at St. Luke in Florence Ky. I get to visit his patients as an advocate and lately observe him in surgery..that's an awesome thing to watch a doc in action!!..it's been so much fun.. I had surgery 6/18/03, I have lost 155 lbs ..now looking into plastics. I am working on the Cincinnati ObesityHelp conference so I hope you all plan on coming to say hello to me.. I tried to get Dr.'s Oldham and Weiss to drive up here for the conference but Dr. Oldham is going on vacation so they both can't leave.. if anyone is going to group support meeting let me know if you want to advertise the event. I will give you all the information you need to know. see ya all in Cinci Brenda

Hey Brenda, It looks like we have a pretty good sized group that's wanting to come to the Cinci event. Wish Weiss or Oldham could have been there, but they work so hard I can't fault them for taking a vacation ever once in awhile.

I hope he won't be on vacation August 23rd since I have an appointment with him that day to discuss moving my port the day of my tummy tuck. I guess I need to check on that when I go in Friday for a fill. The next local info seminar is August 11th in Lexington at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike. I believe it starts at 7:00. We really enjoyed having you at the support group meeting last month. I need to remember to fax in my registration information tomorrow. Keep forgetting to do that.

Hey Thanks for the info Robin, I may just be there! I loved coming down there, you all were so nice.. I sat down in the front row because I knew Cathi was going to introduce me, I had no idea both docs were sitting there when I got up. I didn't get to talk to Dr. Oldham he had to leave but Dr. Weiss did introduce himself. It was a fun day ..I wish I had more time to get to know everyone.. maybe if I do get to come back some us can plan a time to sit and talk...it's going to be so crazy the next few weeks. Brenda

Hello, I'm another out-of-state adoptee. My name is Myra, I live in Southeast Missouri, had my open RNY in St. Louis on March 30, 2005. What can I say (?) ... it was a bad choice to have made. Not the surgery, but the hospital where I had it done. Though my surgery had complications, I was sent home on schedule (5 days later) and over the next 22 days I was really sick. I was re-hospitalized in Cape Girardeau, Missouri for a week (where they really knew nothing about bariatric surgery patients but were hugely nice), and then, after spending another week and a half at home still sick, I was finally brought to Dr. Alex Argotte in Paducah by my cousins, who had their open RNYs at Lourdes last year. Dr. Argotte was able to fix my problems within a week and has now assumed my postoperative care. Coming to Dr. Argotte was the best thing I could have done for myself! He, his staff and the Lourdes dietitian, Susan Mason-Tarr, are all just great, and the support group in Paducah is huge and wonderful. I'm now in my 16th post-operative week, I'm down 84 lbs, walking without the cane I've had to use the last two years (post-back surgery), swimming three times a week and walking every day and feeling better than I have in decades. I've been posting mainly on the Missouri and March, 2005 boards, but it dawned on me that, as a patient of Dr. Argotte's, I might be well off to check in with this board as well, so I can hear what other Lourdes patients have to say. so HI from MO and best wishes to all, Myra 442/430/358/150 hw/sw/cw/gw

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing great! My name is Leatha, and I am waiting to hear from Dr. Shina's office, hoping to get a date soon. I have been researching for a few months, trying to find "my" doctor, after e-mailing people and reading profiles,I felt Dr Shina would be the best for me, after going to Louisville for his seminar,I thought he was awesome and knew his "stuff", and after talking to him he agreed to do my surgery! I was so happy! I know I will be one of his more high risk operations, but I have faith in him and myself. I have been paralyzed, for 27 years, and he has never done surgery on anyone with my problems, but he thinks I will do fine as long as I do what he says. So if anyone has any extra prayers, I would really like it, if you used them on me. I love this site! And all of the members that have been so kind to me,Thank You. Hugs to you all! Leatha
