Angela, I am so sorry you feel so down and unhappy with the surgery. I know how you feel. I felt the same way you did. I couldn't wait until the day of my surgery. I did alot of research and talk to alot of people that had the surgery and met with the surgeon that was going to do my surgery and he ask me if that was what I wanted cause it is a life long commiment. I told him yes. I was tired of all kinds of diets. I tired diets they never worked at least I never gave them a chance cause I loved food to much and I knew the surgery was going to take care of it. Any way, I had the surgery and I was in my hospital room and I cry. I ask myself "WHY", What did I do to myself? After I got home I was on a liquid diet for two weeks and then my surgeon put me on a regular diet soft. I thought I was doing pretty good but food kept getting stuck in my chest. This went on from June to August. I was throwing up and afraid to eat. He wanted to put me in the hospital cause I refuse to eat and then I told him to scope me after that they stretch my stoma and from this day I am enjoying food and even eating out again. Just hang in there. Things gets better farther along you get. They get easier. I went from 315 to 198 today. I feel so much better and I have a better look on life. Take one day at a time my friend and I am just one e-mail away. HUGS TO YOU, Debra 315/285/198/150?

Hello Angela, Who says you'll never be able to go out to eat or eat normal food? You Will never be able to consume as much as you once did that is true. But as for going to a restaurant and eating normal food you are really not giving this a chance. I am 18 post op and down from 308 to 150 pounds. This evening my husband (who I may add also had WLS 14 months ago) went to dinner. We started with a salad which we both were able to eat 1/2 of. We didn't to appetizers... (Well they are not good for you and a waste of money when you can't eat much to begin with) I then ordered a 7oz fillet and a baked sweet potato. I ate 1/2 of my meal and brought the rest home in a doggy bag. This is a tool not a cure. Use this time to recondition your mind and body to the lifestyle changes you need to make to be healthy. Make wise food choices, exercise, and above all once you have healed don't deprive yourself of the things you want. You will find happiness in your new life. Please please find a support group close to you. Get encouraging words from others who have been where you are today. Don't undermine this wonderful opportunity you have in front of you.
