Good morning every 1, Just a few lines to let you all know how I am doing. I am now 12 day's Post Op and down 25 pounds. I am on Vitamins, Calcium, B12, & the Protein. I have trouble with the PROTEIN. Every time I drink it I gag my tail of. I have tried it in MILK, WATER & JUICE, but can't get myself to drink it. It is thick, nasty, & gritty to me. I have a hard time taking it. ANY SUGGESTIONES? My Sterri Strips are all of now and the Scar is only 5 inches long. The Scar is very clean and does not hurt at all. I am without Pain Killers for 6 days now. The only pain I have is when I Cough, Laugh, Sneeze & when I try to use the Bathroom. Other than that I am so so. The last two days I have been FEELING BLUE and don't know why. One minute I am fine & the next I feel like I could cry my eye's out. I don't know what is going on but I should be happy. I mean I just had MAYOR SURGERY. I lost 25 pounds in 13 days and I am up and running. So why do I feel this way? I hope this gets better soon. Other than that I am ok I guess. Monika

Monika, You'll be fine. I understand that this is quite normal. You have been through a big shock to your system and emotions are part of your system. I don't know if this will help, but I didn't feel "normal" until I was at least 9 weeks post op. Hang in there it WILL get better. Shirlene W

I did that too. You will snal out of it soon. Like Shirlene said your body has been through alot. You are doing great on losing your weight! I like carb solutions- choc. (about 10. at wally-world) I mix it with skim milk. Sometimes I add a little choc sryup or peanut butter to give it more flavor. I have been bad lately and not been drinking it and my is not coming off so good now. I have to get back in the groove!! How you checked out bairtriceating.com?? You can order some sample packs to try diffirent flavors. Good Luck iy is not always easy, BUT oh my the results will be sooooo worth it!! Blessings Tonya

http://www.med-diet.com/mytshake.htm at the website above you will find a supplimental shake that you may be about to take. They come frozen..I'm not sure how expensive they are through their sight but I know through my workplace where i plan to buy them when I have my surgery I can get 75 four ounce containers for less than $20. The best way I know to eat them are frozen. My kids love them and they come in a variety of flavors..they come no sugar added glutten free and lactose free..made with soy..maybe this will help. They taste like icecream when kept frozen..Might want to check those out. ...glad to hear you are doing ok..oh for those protein shakes, get yourself a minin blender and blend that sucker to death..I use protein powder mix when I make smoothies and it doesn't taste at all gritty Mary

Here is a protein shake suggestion. I am ten months post-op and have been drinking the same shake every day. 4oz skim milk 1 scoop of GNC vanilla whey protein 1 package of Carb-Conscious Carnation Instant Breakfast Hope this helps! Cassie

Hi Monika, Congrats on your surgery and weight loss. I had my surgery last Wednesday 3-30-05 and I am doing better than I thought. I tried several protien powders before the surgery. I finally found one that didn't have an after taste. It can be ordered through (www)UNJURY.com. It is pure whey isolate, no concentrate, just the pure stuff and it is very good. You can get samples at a reasonable price. It comes in French Vanilla, Chocolate and Unflavored. I have all three and I like the Vanilla in skim milk, the unflavored is good in cream soups. I hope this helps you. I am just a bariatric patient, no connection to this website whatsoever, saw your email and hope this helps. I too have felt blue, crying alot, but today was a better day. I hope I lose as much as you have in such a short time. Good luck to you. Sandy Frey, Florence, Kentucky.
