Hi Tara.. I actually work for Tricare the South region...I know that your contractor for Tricare is The North HNFS. I am baffled why they just did not extend your dates on your approved referral? DId you notify them and request the dates be extended? They may do things differently than we do, but I can not see any problems as long as everything has remained the same that they extend the dates on the referral. Plus for the surgery. Call the 800 # on the back of your id card.. assuming you are on prime... and ask to speak to someone in the referral deptartment and as them specifically why was it denied this time but not several months ago. If you still have issues ask to speak to their supervisor. Surely, someone will be able to help you understand why this go round they deemed it not medically necessary and last time they did. I would even ask about why not extending the dates on the approved referral? Could it be the surgeon you are requesting is no longer network? Assuming you are on prime that is. If you are on standard that would not be an issue. Also could be the surgeons office did not submit the referral properly. That does happen from time to time.
