Just getting started

I finally got to start all the procedures to work towards my surgery! I met with my doctor a month ago and found out that I need to lose 50 pounds before I can have the surgery I have lost 10 so far and I go to meet with my dietrician in the morning to see if I have lost anymore. I am on a low card diet and it is a big change. I miss real food good food but I know it is gonna be worth it. I want this sooooooooo bad and I am gonna work hard to get it. I want a new life and I know it is gonna be for both me and my husband. Pray pray pray that I can lose this weight and that I will lose tommorow! I hope to meet new friends on here and support from people who can help me through this because I am new to all this so I need all the support and help I can get.

Don't give up, keep your wls goal in sight. I've been trying to get my wls for almost 4 yrs. I just found doctors in Louisville that file Medicaid. I'm working through my consults to get me to my surgeon consult and paperwork submission. I have been on different diets and my body doesn't respond positively to them, but it seems like yours is responding to the low carb diet. Just remember to read labels and watch for hidden carbs. Same here. I was talking to a friend who had it last May and she was telling me that I'd need to do at least 1 seminar before the docts at St. Joe East will even see me. SO I have to call over there and set up a day I can come. I know they have seminar dates on Mondays..and my biggest problem, I work during the same hours that the offices are open over there. Bleh..I will have to get my hubby to do it for me. IF I can get him to do it. I'll have to get the number and tell him when I need him to do. Hopefully he'll do it. I'll beat him up if he doesn't.. They will not let your hybbt do it for you. They have you sign a sheet since it is a required part of your process. Mary, you sound like a good, dedicated employee but if this is really important to you, you are gonna have to take some time off work for this and your pre-op tests. The good thing is Donna, the scedular, does try to make all your appointments for the same day so your time off work is minimal. You are not the only one that lives far away. people drive several hours just to get there. BTW, they will let your hubby go WITH you, just not FOR you.

Actually they did let him call for me. He explained that I was at my job and couldn't make a long distance call from there. They gladly let him sign me up for the seminar over the phone. Which was great I'd say. He and I will be going on March 28th for the seminar and meet the doctors. Of course I wouldn't let him go to the seminar for me.. I have to hear this stuff myself so I will know what I'm getting in to.. The boss is so wonderful. She is going to let me off work early to make the 4pm meeting on the 28th. She will do what she can to help me work around my schedule. She's cool like that. I already told her I have to save up alot of sick days and vacation days to do this. I have 18 sick days saved up. I haven't used any since my son was born almost 3 years ago. So I have 3 and a half weeks saved up there. and if I don't have the surgery until October or later I'll have 3 weeks of vacation time. So I won't miss a single dollar from my paychecks.. Mary

Of course they will let someone else call for you. But your post said," I will make my husband go for me". That's what I was responding to. I knew they wouldn't allow that but I am glad you have got it worked out. I hate that you have to wait until October. But at least you won't miss getting paid. I know where you are coming from on that. I bet you will get so anxious that you will be "borrowing" vaction time early (if that is allowed where you work. It doesn't take long to get a surgery date up there. They have three docs doing the surgery. I am excited for you and hope everything goes smoothly for you.

I am getting ready to leave for the doctor this morning, I am really nervouse about stepping on that scale. St. Josephs is a good place to go, the people there are really nice and they help you all the can. I am glad that i chose them. Well, gotta go I have a long drive I'll let you know how it went. Kim, good luck on your WLS journey. I first thought about this surgery three years ago. I made the first phone call in April 2004...after all the appointments, approvals, and other things, I am having my surgery this Friday (25th). Let me know if I can help you in any way. Wow Sheila good luck on Friday!! My thoughts are with you..this week!!

I lost 6 more pounds this week and found out that if all my tests come back good that I can have my surgery in 1 month!!!!!!!! I am so excited and pray to God that everything is good. I have to come up with 2500 dollars by the end of next month, I am trying to think of ways to get that money. My family have been selling dinners to copanies but we can only sell so many. I am gonna sell home enterier candles and try to get some that way, have any ideas? Good Luck with your surgery!
