I talked to my doctor today....

Yep..I talked to her..got a bit emotional even..which isn't uncommon for me at all. I cry at cute commercials.. Anyways, She is all for me doing something to better my health. She told me I should do the RNY because the lap band is reversable and I could easily gain all the weight back. SOOOO...I guess I'm going for RNY. She is going to call and get me in for a consult At St. Joseph hospital east..(st. joe east for short) and they will call me next week with appointment time. You all are finding out before my spouse is because he's gone to Cynthiana tonight and I won't see him until I wake in the morning..FUN FUN... I am excited and scared at the same time..which was why I got all weepy..but still it feels good that I am finding more and more to support me in this. I'm in heaven you all.. Mary

Mary, you will love the surgeons at st. joe east. Unless you needed a referral from your doc for your insurance, you could have just called them up and made the appointment yourself. You likely won't get an appoiuntment with the surgeon for awhile. The first requirement is that you attend an informational meeting, then fill your packet out unless they've changed it. Also, they are now doing nearly all the rny's laproscopically unless there is a reason they have to open. So that will be easier on you. I had surgery there again two weeks ago to remove part of my old tummy.

I am having my doctor do it because she is so supportive and wants to help me get what I need. She is the best Dr. I've ever had and she knows my history fairly well. Doing it laproscopically would be awesome..I'd rather have several little scars rather than one big one..*nods* Thanks..I had good recommendations for St. Joes because of 3 friends from my church who had their surgeries there. And one friend said she'd take me there since she knows how hard it is to get sitters for kidlets at short notice..*smiles* I'm just getting so excited... Mary
