I have cha-health. I recently found out that I have sleep apnea. When I lay on my back its 30/hr. I was just wondering if anyone with apnea has been approved without having diabetes, and if so, how many appeals? or, just what should I expect. Please help! Ruby

I was diagnosed with mild apnea (12/hour on my belly--I could not sleep on my back without smothering). I was approved for WLS with the first request, both for RNY, then again when I found the DS. In fact, sleep apnea is one of the comorbidities that insurance companies sometimes require for WLS. I refused the CPAP machine since I was having WLS surgery anyway and losing weight is what they tell you to do to help get rid of the apnea. 6 months after my DS, I am feeling great. It's amazing how energetic you feel when you get a good night's rest! -joanne s preop/current/goal 277/183/175 Loving my DS!
