Hello Ky Members My name is Ron Vasko I had Gastric bypass RNY on Nov.1,2004 and as of this week have lost 105 lbs. I just wanted to tell everyone about the great attention that I have received at St West in Florence Ky at the Tri State Surgical Weight Loss Center. Dr Sonnanstine is top notch along with his staff whi*****ludes at great Dietician and a great Psycologist. We have support groups for Bariatric patients on the 1st Thursday of the month and the 3rd Tues of the month and I would like to invite anybody that has had Gastric to attend. You can Email me at: [email protected] for more information. As we all know after the surgery it can be a confusing and sometime stressful job I would like to thank Dr. Lisa West-Smith for all her help with our group and our individuals in there times of need. I feel Dr lisa (as we call her) has a excellent understanding of bariatric patients in there daily struggles and also the great acheivements. I would reccomend her to all of you if you need help or a person you can turn to in your time of need, I know she has helped me in times when I needed advice or just a smile. Let me be the first to say congratulaions for reaching the century mark. I read your profile and totally agree with you. You have to do this for yourself first and foremost. I had my gastric bypass done in june and have lost 155lbs. total thus far. It is so nice to walk in a store and not have to wonder if they have a big and tall section. Size 38 jeans are everywhere!!!!!!! Keep up the good work and once again Congrats!!!! Rusty

I think there are many things that you can do, I see so many people sneek back to the old habits and eventually I feel they are cheeting themyselves. I bought an old house and I am restoring it . I get to do something I love to do but I also get more exersize than I need. I think being a guy does help but you know I was also a large man so therefore I have a lot more fat to loose and water is some of that. As far as the surgery it is a tool thats it! its not a cure and I cant treat it as a cure. I think we all know that this is a life change so if we use it to our benefit we will all live long healthy life but if we cheat it in 10 years we will be doing something different to loose weight. I know everyday when I step on the scale that I had alot to do with my loss. I must admit I smile when I drop pants sizes I was in a 70" waiste now a 58 next week a 56 so we will see. All I can say is that I am here for the long haul and yes from time to time I may stagger from the path I will eventually get to my destination where I hope to find all of you....ron

hi, congrads on the weight loss, I just now saw your post and was delighted by your profile. I have been battling with weight all my life, but due to my husbands sickness and staying home with him , i gained without relizing it was getting out of control. I have been in a wheel chair, for 2 years, and gained more. Seeing how much you have lost has incouraged me, I to have lots to lose. And soon will be on the winning side.

Ron..that is wonderful news!! I had my surgery in Louisville on 8/26-Have lost about 90 lbs--don't weigh that often...However I broke my ankle on 10/31 and could put no weight on it for 2 months..then in a walking cast for the next month. You're right it is a tool...and sometimes I have to remind myself of that. But I feel so much better..and have so much energy I sometimes feel like I could bounce off the walls!! Did you ever feel like you would go for weeks and not lose anything? I guess not, huh? I keep feeling like I'm treading water and not going anywhere..and I feel like people are looking at me, expecting me to look smaller than I do..is that weird?? Maybe I need to bring that up in support session!!! Best of Luck Loser!! renee rny 8/26/04 330/253/240
