Hi from Texas--OT Long and Sad
Hi everyone-- Just wanted to share this sad story that shows just how kind hearted Kentuckians are. I hope it doesn't bother anyone that I am posting this here. I am an active member on the Texas MB.
My sister in law (from Kentucky) called Thursday to let us know that her husband Bob-(age 62) had been killed that morning. He was traveling in a big utility truck in Bowling Green when he stopped to help two ladies whom had broken down (out of gas). He called his wife to let her know that he was taking one of them on a gas run and he would call her when he was back on the road. When they got back from getting gas, he pulled behind their Buick. While pumping gas, an eighteen wheeler went off of the road and slammed into the back of Bob's truck and ultimitely his truck hit them. He died later at the hospital. The lady that was standing with him is in stable condition, her twin sister was treated and released (not sure if she was in the car or on the other side of the car). The 54 year old truck driver is also in stable condition. Apparently he was swerving in and out of the lane before the accident. Maybe he was falling asleep. How many lives have changed because he had to make those last miles before sleeping. People here in the Houston area have been complaining about this new safe tow policy going on here. Well if this had been in effect there, then Bob would still be alive. He left three children and lots of grandbabies behind. I took my husband and other sis in law to the airport this morning to go to the funeral. (tickets too expensive for us to go). Please say a prayer for everyone involved. I know those ladies and the truck driver will have so much guilt over this. And my husbands family is devestated. Thanks everyone--- July
