Ky. Medicaid

How long does it take for Ky. Medicaid to approve. What do they require for you to have done before approval. I looked up on a site last night and about everyone that has sent in for approval since 1999 had been approved except one person. I have all the comorbites that is needed. hahaha that sounds so strange doesn't it. But anyway, I ahve sent in all my papers to my doctor, all I need is a psy. evaluation and 2 nutritionist visits, and a consult with my doctor. Do I need anything else. They said at the hospital that I would need 5 years of doctor supervised wweight loss attempts. I have quite a few, but most of them were weigh****cher or something I tried at home and not documented. What I do have documented is 2 attempts with diet pills with doctors, one attempt on low fat with doctor and another doctor that put me on a low carb. diet. Will that be enough? Hey Judy, I just had surgery on Dec. 17th I had everything sent in plus all of my Dr. stuff by the first of July and never heard a thing until around the first of November. I even had a heart attack a year ago. It still took that long. But it was worth it I know. Good luck and God bless you. Let me know how it goes.

It took about 11 weeks for them to approve me and they approved it the first time. Good luck. Charity WHittinghill

judy i judt got approved it took from 11-09-04 to 01-07-05 to get approval i seen the dr. on sept 10th and it took them until11-09-05 to send in my paper work as far as diets and stuff i just turned in the ones i done at home i had letters from 3 doctors stating i needed the surgery. with all the co morbities you have you should get a fast approval to. heres wishing you luck

Congrats on your approval, I'm still waiting to see if they approve me or not. I saw the Dr. for the second time in November to make sure that my heart was going to be ok and they sent all the paperwork in a week later. Judy, please don't get discouraged. My information was submitted on October 21, 2004 and I just got my approval a few days ago. I was told the Medicaid people take a long tme at the end of the year due to people submitting things in anticipation of possibly losing their insurance after the first of the year. Now that it is the new year, maybe things can speed up. Good luck!
