HELP GETTING APPROVED??????????

I have Kentucky Medicaid (KENPAC). My family doctor has been trying to get me approved for gastric by-pass surgery for months now. He called some surgeons they said I needed to be approved before they could see me and when he tried to get me approved they said I needed to have a surgeon before I could get approved. If anyone out there can give me any information on how I can go about getting a surgeon and getting insurance approved PLEASE let me know. Thanks Bev

Bev, I have not been aproved as of yet that I know of, but, I found a doctor that would take the medicaid card and asked them what I needed to do. Then I have proceeded to do those things. I called Dr. D. Blaine Nease in Huntington West Virginia at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Also there are a few doctors in Louisville that take Medicaid. Dr. Jeffery Allen does, and Dr. Mark Shina at Norton Surburban Hospital in Louisville on 4001Dutchman Lane. Try them I hope this might help you. Keep in touch if I can help any other way or time. I have Kenpac also, and am having surgery on 1-25, Dr. Jeffery Allen is my surgeon. Medical card told me they wouldnt pay across state lines. I went to my primary care dr first and got a referal to Dr Allen because medical demands it and then I started the process of going to see him. Good luck.
