question huh?? I just wonder how long you were off work and which type of surgery you had?? I'm scheduled 12-28-04 for lap RNY. Not sure how long I will be off work?? I have 24 steps in the stairway to my office. I understand no lifting. I have talked to my boss about that and all is fine. I have always be someone who just does it!! Januaury is my lightest month. Mostly planning and ordering supplies. Computer and phone work. How long before you could drive??? That to me is going to the very worse part!!! I'm in the van going somewhere all the time it seems!! My family think it is funny, my mom calls me the roamer!! Have gas will travel, well now I will have a different type of gas!! Anyway what has been your experience?? Blessings Tonya

Hi I had Lap. RNY Oct. 5th and got home Oct. 7th went to the store Oct 8 and done my monthly shopping I didn't lift any 12 packs or gallons of milk had the stock men do it but the hardest part of that was not gettin out of the car but gettin in. Other than that all was well My surgeon was totally against me driving more I think for the pain meds but I stopped taking those once I got home BUT and this is Big my reflexs where slower I think due to the anestesi at the hospital. My husband even noticed. So for safety sake I would wait atleast 5 days after surgery that is when I noticed I was more back to myself in my mentally. If You can understand that. Best Wishes You will do good. 287/230/150 Shell

Hi Tonya, I had my surgery MOnday November 8th and went back to work the following MOnday. I set behind a desk all day. I did really well. Did half days (tried to) for the first week. Just remember to take care of you..and take a nap when you need to. Your body is saying what the hell happened and needs time to catch up. Good Luck ....Brenda of Lawrenceburg.

I went to work after 2 weeks and I had an open RNY, but my job is not very strenuous. The only thing I have to do is sit and answer questions and type. I also live very close to my job< and I felt well enough to go to work. So its really according to what you do for a living. I could not have done a heavy job or even stand up very long or I would get tired. The doctors don't want you to drive before 3 weeks because if you get in an accident you could do some real damage if your stomach is injured and the steering wheel could really injure you even if its just a fender bender.Take it easy as long as you can.Even if you go back early be sure to follow surgeons instructions.
