Kim , just try to stay calm. I was fine when I woke up and never thought I had made a mistake. Just put your trust in the Lord and relax don't look back.

Kim - I just had surgery last Thursday 12/9 and to be honest I have thought that it was a mistake. I have sd this to my husband a couple of times. Not because of the pain because I have none (I stopped taking pain meds when I got home Sat) but because of the head hunger. I see food on tv and I want it even though I'm not hungry at all. I believe that it will get better but I'm sure the first couple of weeks are rough. Like I said I have done fantastic - the most pain I had was gas pain and that was right after surgery. My husband and I went to Wal-Mart Sunday and yesterday we went to the mall to finish our X-mas shopping so I believe that I have been blessed in that aspect. Just follow your heart, God will lead you in the right direction but be prepared mentally afterwards for head hunger. I wasn't prepared and didn't know it was going to hit me as hard as it has. But the good news is that I go back to the doctor tomorrow and should be advanced to pureed foods. The bad news is I'm having a tough time with head hunger and protein! The last thing I thought right before I went under was "I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS" I realized as they where giving me the sedative that I may never wake up and it broke my Heart. But it was to late I had doen been inscensed....LOL............Ok when I got out of surgery the first thing I thought was I made it, two seconds later Still groggy couldn't even open my eyes... I asked the nurse was it able to be lap...I was scared of the whole Open thing...... Then I called my DH I was totally out of my head phone bill says we talked 30 some odd minutes I only remember maybe 5. Notice no pain. I never had pain after the surgery child birth hurt worse (for me) I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. just tight. Like the previous poster head hunger is a killer. keep thinking ok I am loosing food is no big deal. Then You loose slow. in your head because You expect to see the scales move daily and trut me for me they don't I have lost 57lbs in 2months 9 days sounds great on paper right but living it I haven't seen the scales move in weeks. You can easily get it in Your head daily that "I am going to be one it didn't work for" then constantly I am thinking what if I get a obstruction will I know and worry about the what ifs still but see i am a worry wart and Would I do it again..... YES. I get sick form time to time the morning mouth with only water to drink bites no bread for meats sucks cause see I am a country girl raised on fried potatoes and bologna sandwiches cheeseburgers and pizza ... Now I eat soup... a bite of fish a bite of sausage (which made me sick) ... But really it is in my mind that bothers me so have support and be strong. it really as far the "SURGERY" goes I don't even feel like I had it. But I can't pig out like I did sooooooo. any questions feel free to email me. 287/230/150 Shell

Kim, I think everyone thinks that when they first wake up and even I thought it for about a week after. Please hang in there it gets better. At your first post -op appointment you will see it will have been all worth it. You are getting the common case of nerves calm down you will be o.k. Good Luck ....Brenda in Lawrenceburg.

I didn't. I had a great sense of peace from a couple days before my surgery until I went in. I'd researched this from one end to the other and I was comfortable with my decision and confident in my surgeon. I had complications, severe internal bleeding the day of surgery and needed emergency surgery that night because I was bleeding to death. Even then I didn't regret the surgery, I knew that my doctor would do his best and I knew he'd dealt with a similar situation before (staple line failure on the old stomach). It prolonged my hospital stay by 2 days, but I sailed through everything just fine. Not once did I regret my choice. Even with 2 surgeries instead of one, I did not have much discomfort at all and was off pain meds when I got home. I'm now 10 1/2 weeks out from surgery... I've lost 42.5 pounds from what I weighed the morning of surgery. I'm down from a 22-24W - 2-3Xs to wearing XLs and I'm just moving into size 16 pants. Nope... no regrets at all! I feel wonderful and I have ENERGY. Life is good! Rhonna
