Any Ky. surgeons that do the DS surgery?

Are there any surgeons in Kentucky that do the duodenal switch surgery and also take Ky. Medicaid card? I have my PCP's written approval, my psychaitrist approval, I've had x-rays done, blood work done. I would appreciate anyone's help. Thank you and I pray God's richest blessings on each one of you. Hi Judy, when I first started researching this surgery I asked around about surgeons doing DS in KY and couldn't find one. Dr Husted in Nashville Tn is good, but I think he is out of network with most insurance policys, at least they said he was when I called them... Good luck... God Bless Angela

Hi Angela, Thank you for your response. I found a Dr. Nease in West Virginia. I contacted them and Sylvia returned my call. She stated that they DO take Ky. Medicaid and that he does the DS surgery. She is sending me a package of information to fill out. I am so excited!!! I told her about all the problems that I have and she said to fill out the information packet and Dr. Nease will look over it to see if I qualify. I can't believe it. Oh yes I can. With God ALL things are possible. Did you have the DS surgery done. If you did how did you do? How are you doing now. How long has it been. Do you have pictures of this web site? Thanks, Judy

Hi, Judy, I am glad u found a doc. Is he close to where u live? I am currently waiting on approval for the Open RNY. I got denied a week or so ago and submitted more info for my reconsideration of my denial. I go to Dr Shina up in Louisville. I considered the DS, but no one in Ky does it and the closest one to me, Dr Husted in Nashville is out of network with most Ins and I would have to come up with the majority of the money up front...I wish u all the luck in the world and keep me posted on how u r doing...All of us need each others support no matter which surgery we are trying for...I know waiting is very hard and if u ever need to talk just email me or IM me if u have aol.. Hi Angela, I am supposed to go to a seminar 12/14 in Louisville where Dr Geller is going to speak. My papers that I filled out came from Dr. Shina's office. I really want the DS surgery done. I think I will do much better with it. I hope you get approved reallly soon. Would be a great Christmas gift, Huh. Yeah we do need each other. We are the only ones that understand what the other one is going thru. Skinny people or average people just don't understand. Dr. Nease is in West Virginia. It is just as close to me as Louisville is. Maybe a few minutes shorter. He just sounds like he is such a great doctor be reading what other people have to say about him and how his father died from being obese. That is where his drive,[I guess that is what you would call it] comes from. Just wanting to help other people overcome what killed his father. He sounds just wonderful to me. Just what I am looking for. I just hope my insurance will cover the whole thing and I will be accepted.. If it is meant to be then it will, if not, then it won't. But I am thinking positive about it. Hi, Judy, I have heard of Dr Nease and I think its wonderful that u might get to go to him. Dr Shina and Dr Geller are great and I am glad Dr Shina is my dr, but if u feel the DS is for u then I would try to go for it. This surgery is so overwhelming and it is a risk so I would go for the one that u feel in your heart is right for u...That way u won't have any regrets. I will keep in touch and let u know when and if I get my approval, so far it looks like I will have to wait a year more, but that will be ok. At least at the end of a year we will have our new house built and moved in...That gives me lots to look forward to doing. Email me sometime and give me your email so I can touch base with u.
