Since I have gone off just liquids and started introducing soft foods, I am as weak as a kitten. I am drinking lots of water and focusing on proteins with fat free cheese and eggs (scrambled). I also got fat free cottage cheese. I am eating 3 meals (although small). I am seeing my regular doctor today to discuss what's wrong but I wondered if this is normal. I am 3 and half weeks post op and yes, I am taking my vitamins. I have no energy and almost passed out in the shower.

I had no energy for about six or seven weeks. Did your surgeon tell you to eat no-fat foods? If not, try the regular stuff. We need a little fat and my program they told us to just use regular stuff. Follow your doc's orders about food by all means. Update us on what your doc says today. Are you going to your wls or your family doc? Most of the time, our family docs aren't the ones that should be asdvising us on wls issues. They mean well but they aren't usually in the know about our surgeries.

Call your docs office and let them know you are so weak. They can suggest increasing certain vitamins or even add food to your diet early, on an individual basis. I know that B12 gives energy and increasing iron can too. Also, be sure you are getting in extra Potassium and Thiamin (B1) as we don't absorb as much of that any more. The right kind of vitamins can make a difference too. I switched to a chewable version that is blended tor GB patients to absorb better and I've felt much better. Sometimes too just having surgery can take it out of you. I had a second surgery three weeks after the GB and it took the strength right out of me. It will get better. Happy Holidays! Stephanie
