I had surgery in August of this year with Drs. Weiss and Oldham in Georgetown. They only do laproscopic surgery and to date have not had to convert to an open procedure. They do both the RNY and the LapBand. I have complete faith in their surgical abilities. Both surgeons are in the OR during the surgery. If you would like more information you can go to their website. Just add the www in front. georgetownbariatrics.com. Their next seminar is December 15th @7:00pm at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike in Lexington.

I had surgery with Dr Bolar Sept 29 and I personally think that he is one of the best!!! He is a great surgeon and has a wonderful bedside manor. He treats each patient with respect, concern, and compassion. His staff is very pro-active instead of re-active and that made a big difference to me. If I have a question, I just call and I have an answer right away. As far as getting an appointment, I called on a Friday and saw him the following Tuesday---no problem getting in at all. He doesn't overbook so there is plenty of time to ask question and get the full answer. I feel that there are some Dr out there that overbook and you end up waiting forever to see the dr and then have no time to get answers. If you have any other questions, please e-mail me. [email protected] love and hugs lynn ps. I was in the same position as you. I lost faith in my Dr about 15 days before my surgery. My mom had surgery with this particular Dr and has some problems and his nurse told me that "they do surgeries, not aftercare, your mom will have to deal with the problems herself." I was not about to put my life in the hands of a dr office who treats people like that. So I didn't go back and found Dr Bolar. I felt safe and secure with Dr Bolar doing my surgery from the moment that I had my first visit.

jon about the only doctors in the state now that take medicaid are Dr. Shina in Louisville. (I think he still does but not sure) and I know Dr. Roderigious (Spelling incorrect) at the University of Louisville hospital. These are both great foctors but with the medicaid you would have a better chance ( I think) of getting in with Dr. Roderigious pretty soon. I think I heard that Dr. shina is only doing a certain number of medicaid and medicare patients a month so it could be a long wait. But, I am really not sure if this is the correct info. You could call them and see. A lot of members have used the doctor at the University of Louisville and really liked him and the staff at the hospital a lot. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do. You probably need to get moving on it so your approval will still be good.

Hi Jon, WOW....I was shocked to read that you lost faith in Dr. Argotte. He is a wonderful surgeon with a great after care plan. He's also the most caring surgeon I ever met. I love him dearly, and would trust him 100 times over. I have spoken with and met many of his post-op patients, and you are the first I ever heard say they doubted him. I wish you much luck, and hope you will be able to find a surgeon you feel comfortable with. Good luck and God Bless. Jenni 300/257/145 -43 lbs.

I love Dr. Shina!! Straight forward and to the point! Yes, I believe he accepts the state medical card. Check out www.louisvillebariatric.com that is the web site for the right weight clinic he works with @ Norton's Suburban Hospital. I know that would be a long drive for you but, you must find someone you have faith in. Blessings Tonya

Hi Jon... Sorry my response is coming several days after your post.. just now able to get on the pc.. however .. Iused a Dr. Gerald Larson with the Univeristy Surgical Associates in Louisville.. he is in the same group as Dr. Rodriguez which was suggested by another member... both dr's are wonderful.... Dr. Larson has a genuine concern about his patients and is very informative.... his staff as well as Dr. larson have wonderful "bedside manners" so to speak..... good luck with this all... and if you have any questions about either surgeon feel free to ask... ps.. if you need their # just shoot me a message.... God Bless

Hi Jon, Just to let you know the Georgetown Baritraic experience is the best!! I had my surgery on Monday Nov.8th and was back to work the next Monday. One lady who had the surgery the same day as I did drove all the way from the Eastern part of Kentucky..that says allot for Dr's Weiss and Oldham. I had doctor Oldham. They are both in the O.R. with you though. I cannot say enough for them or the whole staff. Almost all the staff has had the surgery as well. The Doctors nurse Casia had the surgery and I think lost around 300 lbs. Good luck and if you don't have a surgeon yet consider Georgetown. Brenda Brock-Lawrenceburg
