Can't say if that is too much or not everyone is differant, I was on the same day as You and I can't eat that much. I have tried, LOL but I get soooooo sick.!!! My surgeon said that is fine that it would help me with my weight loss at this point. He said that about 1 1/2 oz right now and then MAYBE 3 oz at three months. I was afraid I wasn't gettin in enough. I can usually just tolerate to eat once a day so if he knew that he might change his tune BUT I do get in my 72 grams of protien a day from shakes and such. But hey if You can tolerate that and not get sick I am sure all is well. I would jus****ch and don't snack on top of it. Best wishes 287/237/150 Shell

Hey I forgot to ask how Your weightloss is coming. I went to your profile but You haven't updated in a bit. I have lost officially 50lbs today but somehow it seems my clothes are a bit baggy but not really changing in size. Of course I have been wearing stretch shorts and pants for about 5 years now and they are all stretched out so I don't know really what size I was in that bites. LOL and I should have asked was it like a cup of soup or steak and mashed potatoes? It really makes a differance how much you can eat I can eat about 2 bites of turkey steak or chicken and feel so full but I can eat about 6 or 7 bites of soup. Shell

I am really surprised that you can eat 12 oz. at a time. I am nearly two years post op and can eat about 5ozs. If it is something like all meat, I am lucky to eat 3 oz.

Hi Judy, I'm now 1 mnt. post-op, as of yesterday, and I am eatting about 1/2 cup at a time. I probably could eat more, but just stop myself, as I was told to only eat 2 oz. at a time. Now Thanksgiving was another story. My dietician told me to eat 2oz. then wait about an hour, and eat another 2 oz. I did that, and paid dearly. Got so sick, and the turkey got stuck and I finally ended up Last I heard from you, you were losing at a steady pace. I hope things are still going well for you. Take care. Jenni 300/265/145 -35 lbs.

I think the whole key to the issue is not how much you CAN eat, but how much you are SUPPOSED to eat. I am in the same program that Shell is and we were told to not eat more than our 1 1/2 - 2 oz at this stage (2 months out). By 3 months we MIGHT be able to increase to 3 oz. We are not supposed to be eating until we are full (unless we get "full" on the allotted amount). We are supposed to be measuring/weighing our food so that we know we are getting the proper amount. And as Shell mentioned, a cup of liquid and a cup of solid food is entirely different. Liquid (soups) will percolate through and allow a higher volume, but solids will stay put and put strain on the pouch if you overeat. It IS possible to stretch the pouch. That is not something you want to happen, as it will take you right back to where you were before surgery. I have a friend that had a Gastric Bypass years ago... within a year she was eating just as she always had and gained everything back plus more. We have been given a precious tool to allow us to gain back a normal life, but it is our responsibility to work with that tool and to protect it. I would contact your weight loss facility and talk to them about it. After going through all this you don't want anything to jeopardize your results! Good luck! Rhonna

Well Said. Well Said. How are things going? Bath done? I am standing still with the loss right now. But I know my body needs a break to catch up so I am not complaining. Happy Holidays. Shell

Hey Shell! I'm convinced that I'm in my window of misery right now. I had myself convinced that I'd sail right through this and not bother with such mundane things. Apparently I wasn't as special as I thought. LOL One bathroom is nearing completion... another couple days. The other is nearly completely gutted, getting ready to start on that one next. My shrinking body would really like to soak in that jacuzzi! Weight loss is sporadic, but ends up being a slow steady loss. I haven't lost anything in the past few days, but part of that is that I've been unable to exercise, too. I'm sure once I'm feeling up to par and exercising the way I should that it will start up again. I have 8 weeks till our cruise... if I can keep up 4-5# a wee****il then, that would put me down another 35-40#! Seems a lot more impressive when you look at it from that standpoint! Rhonna
