Surgeons Fees....

Does anyone know what Dr Shina charges as his fee? I have to pay 10% of what ever his fee is before surgery...Of course this is after I get approved. My ins said that they pay 90% and since I have already met my deductible all I pay is 10% of Dr Shinas fees...If anyone has an idea or a ballpark figure (guess) I would appreciate knowing so I can start saving up for it... I had Dr. Gellar and he is in with Shina I paid an initial 400.00 and I don't think they charge that anymore, it was suppose to cover the co-pay for a consult. My consult was 6/14 and I got a bill today for my 25 copay. Im going to call and straighten this out I was charged 350.00 with a co-pay of 25.00 for the consult. My bill for surgery was 23,635. Not broken down,all going to Nortons. I suppose the surgeons bill was included in that. I had to 100.00 copay for the preadmission tests.before insurance they were about 2000.00. I did get a bill from Nortons for 750.00 that is the days in hospital I have to pay for, and it is included in the 23,635. The way it is billed is very different from any other surgery I have had. I have only seen 1 bill from the surgeon and that is the one I got today . I hope this helps some.My surgery date was Sept 3.

Hi, Deborah, all I paid for my consult fee on Oct 5 was $15 for the copay and $75 for the nutritionist...I know I will have to pay 10% of Dr Shinas fee for the surgery, but I don't know what it will be and his office said that they won't know until I am approved. I don't think they understand that I don't want to pay it now, I just want to start saving up for it...Congrats on your surgery, what type did u have? R u doing ok now? I had open rny and I'm doing great. Have lost 34lbs and I'm almost 9 weeks out. Im 56 and have only 100lbs to lose so I think that is a good loss or so they tell me. I recoverd quite well with very little pain. No nausea, no diareaha. Just let some one take care of you for a while. Don't lift, and only eat what they tell you. You won't be hungry. I started mixing unflavored protien powder with Wolfgang Puck latte (low sugar low carb low fat) get it in the coffee isle at Kroger by the Starbucks brands.Its in glass bottles like frappichino. If you like chocolate you'll like it. Its the best so far . I have no trouble with getting in my protien because I like it so much.Good luck to you. Hi Ang I am going to Dr Shina's seminar tomorrow (11/02) and all I am required to pay at that visit is my $20 co-pay. IF I chose to see the nutritionist on that day, then I have to pay $75 for that. After I am approved, or I guess i should say IF I am approved, I will be required to pay another $75 for the PreAdmission Class (PAC). I was worried about having to come up with the $150 all at once, so I called the office to find out when each fee was to be paid. Glad I did, cause now I feel better. Hi, Linda, I had my seminar on Oct 5, it was great, just eat before u go up there cause it last 5-6 hours. Dr Shina really takes his time to sit down and explain everything and as long as people are still asking questions he will sit and answer them. Then he takes u back one on one to examine u and talk privatly with each patient. My hubby and I loved him...I wish u the best...Let me know how it goes. I just paid my copay and the $75 at my seminar, then When I get approved, soon I hope, I will have to pay $75 more to the nutritionist for that class, and 10% of whatever Dr Shina charges...Have fun tomorrow and good luck..Keep me posted...
